Pomona, CA - September 7, 2007 — Ten of Hollywood Pop Academy’s most talented students entertained hundreds of visitors on the opening day of the Los Angeles County Fair, held at the Fairplex Park in Pomona, California. The performers’ diverse selection of songs, which ranged from Fergie and Beyonce covers to Tina Turner and Jackson 5 renditions, appealed to both younger and older generations, who danced and sang along throughout the show.
“The LA County Fair was riveting. I’m so proud of HPA’s artists because they captured and mesmerized a couple hundred audience members’ attention during opening day,” said Events Director Geraldine Hernandez.
According to various spectators, HPA’s showcase was one of the most attended performances of the evening. After the show, several audience members were eager to meet and have their pictures taken with HPA singers.
"The concert was wonderful. I would have never expected so much passion out of these young dreamers," said Tim Gopez, a 19-year-old local from Diamond Bar, California.
The performers included: DeAndra Rodriguez, CODA, Christina Kolcheva, CJ, Amy Black, Alec Hanna, Lea Marie, Charlie Scott, Mariel Jacoda, and Lisa Anakwenze. HPA HOSTS 1ST BI-ANNUAL MIXER

Hollywood, CA - August 26, 2007 — Hollywood Pop Academy hosted their first bi-annual mixer in appreciation of all students, parents, instructors, and staff. The event was held at Musicians Institute’s main concert hall (P100), the same stage where notable acts, such as Stevie Wonder, have performed.
HPA provided refreshments, music, and a lineup of live performances featuring select students and coaches. The performances ranged from intimate dance routines to saxophone arrangements, as well as everything from country to hip hop, which reminded everyone how broad the realm of pop music is.
Events Director Geraldine Hernandez, among other staff members, found the mixer to be very successful. Similarly, many guests highly enjoyed the event and thanked HPA for inviting them.
In a comment posted on HPA’s MySpace, student Harrell Holmes Jr. said, “Thank you guys for throwing a great party. I’m already looking forward to the next one!” UKRAINIAN SINGERS COMPETE FOR AN 'AMERICAN CHANCE' TO LAND A RECORD DEAL AND ATTEND HPA

Riev, Ukraine - August 21, 2007 — Hollywood Pop Academy congratulates the Round 1 winners from the no.1 Ukrainian Television program American Chance. These 12 talents faced a grueling audition process and were selected among thousands of Ukrainians from across the nation.
Molly Rocklind, HPA’s Director of Education, and Laura Scarpati, HPA’s Director of Business Development, were invited to Ukraine to join the program’s elite panel of judges including UTMA President, Angelo Vouniotis, DJAM President, David Junk, Ukrainian’s 1 television producer, Igor Kondratyuk, and President of Ukrainian Records, Andrey Dakhovsky.
Come mid-September, the finalists will leave their home country and move to Hollywood, California, where their lives will be taped, and each week they will compete to win a spot in the final five. The top five contestants will form an internationally traveled girl group and sign a record contract with Ukrainian Records, an exclusive licensee of Universal Music in Ukraine, and attend the prestigious Hollywood Pop Academy. 2007 SUMMER SHOWCASE

Hollywood, CA - July 21-22, 2007 — With over 60 workshops and 30 one-on-one critique sessions to choose from, singers traveled from as far as Canada and Thailand to attend Hollywood Pop Academy’s 2007 Summer Showcase.
The event was a two-day intensive program, offering local and international students a wide selection of classes in music industry, dance, and acting. Students were advised to map out their own schedules according to personal weaknesses, needs, and interests.
Among the happy campers was the talented Lea Marie, who especially enjoyed the one-on-ones because of the amount of individual advice she received as an artist and performer. In addition, many students agreed that they would like the program to last longer. For example, when asked how long it should be, Jocelyn Drabouski replied, “Maybe like a week. That would just be so great!”
Throughout the program, several alumni and Stevie Wonder Scholarship recipients performed and shared personal advice. Such performers included alumni Kasey Butler (Universal/Blackground Records) and Lyric (in negotiation with Sony Urban) as well as scholarship students Harrell Holmes Jr., Bri Bernstein, and Shelly Renee.
In addition, the showcase included an evening red carpet event, in which each student had the opportunity to perform in front of a panel of music industry professionals and a full-house audience.
At the end of the showcase, students and parents submitted their feedback through in-depth evaluation forms. The HPA staff reviewed all the feedback the following day and began brainstorming new ideas to improve their next showcase to be held in February. STEVIE WONDER SCHOLARSHIP GIVEAWAY

Hollywood, CA - June 10, 2007 — From as early as 4:30am, hundreds of talented hopefuls gathered in front of the Hollywood Pop Academy studios to compete for one of 5 full-tuition scholarships worth over $150,000.
The prize, presented by Mr. Stevie Wonder, included enrollment in HPA Unlimited, 3 outdoor live concerts in the Hollywood, non-exclusive management representation, an original demo, and a record label executive showcase performance at the Kodak Theatre.
Prior to the event, Mr. Wonder said, "There are kids out there who don't always have access to the best schools for learning music, and the voice is such an important instrument. I am thrilled to be able to hand over the greatest gift ever—the gift of education."
Beginning at 8:00am, HPA Director Jenny Chapman and HPA Director of Education Steven Memel judged each contestant in a private audition. As the field narrowed to the top 40, those who did not make the cut did not leave empty-handed as every contestant was awarded a certificate for one free class at HPA.
After a long day of auditions, comedian Michael Colyar as well as American Idol finalist and TV Guide Channel host Kimberly Caldwell opened the awards ceremony to an evening of inspiration. Ms. Caldwell then introduced the guest of honor, Mr. Stevie Wonder, who offered words of wisdom to the final 40 contestants and their families.
"I just wanted to say to all of you do not give up. You've got my love with you [and] you've got everyone who understands how important you are," said Mr. Wonder. Mr. Wonder then went on to surprise the starstruck audience with an inpromptu, intimate performance. At the end of the night, he personally congratulated and handed each of the five scholarship winners their awards.
The scholarship winners are:
Harrell Holmes (14)
Bri Bernstein (15) Camille Abordo (13)
Blair Perkins (15)
Shelly Renée (19)

Tai's story:
As a 2 year old, Jasmine "Tai" Reid knew exactly what she wanted—and that of course, was “MTV!” Frustrated that her parents couldn’t replay her favorite performances over and over again, she decided that she would sing them herself, and has since, never stopped singing. By the time she was 4, she and her baby sister Alexis learned new songs each day and performed them in front of their parents as soon as they returned home from work. After many talent shows and showcases later, Tai, now 17 years old, has developed a smooth and entertaining style that allows her to honor the legacy of a cover song yet make it her own.

While she claims that balance is the key to her success, Tai clearly goes above and beyond not only by excelling in school but also by stealing the stage with a dynamic performance. By doing what she loves, which includes community service as well as singing, she continues to touch lives everywhere and inspire others to have a positive passion for life.
Tai has spent the summer, training, performing, writing, and recording. The fruits of labor will bare a CD this fall. This budding star is a triple threat of a different kind, singing/performing, writing/producing and as a spokes model/Vj. In fact, a glance at her resume is only a hint at the skill and potential Tai has to offer. The future holds endless possibilities, especially when one thing’s for sure…that Tai has the X Factor..
Check out her MySpace Congratulations, Tai!
