Identical twins Chidi and Chinwe Adilih are dynamic divas with bags of confidence, oozing funk and soul in their self penned creative and catchy tunes. Your dancefloor is ready to be pumping with TOOCHI’s fresh and delicious tunes packed with originality and encasing the fun element of the twin’s party loving spirit and appreciation for fabulous people worldwide.
Born in Nigeria, raised in Scotland, based in East London, these twins represent a horde of cultures and societies that is a sign of the times and make them true reflections of the ever changing face of UK’s current multicultural existence.
TOOCHI tunes are a combination of explosive melodies mixed with catchy lyrics and groovy beats. A fusion of traditional African drums brought up to date with current Western influences, the songs encase vibes of edgy POP, R&B, SOUL and FUNK to an exciting creative flavour the industry is yet to experience.
Being identical twins adds a unique touch to an industry searching for the next different act. The concept of GLAM VS FUNK is what sets TOOCHI apart from acts about today. The fact that the twins acknowledge their differences and celebrate their own unique selves and styles gives this product an exciting edge that has brought up to date an age old concept mythed by uniformity and adjusted it to today’s expectations creating hilarious and fun results! Chidi who is the bubbly character of the two represents the GLAM aspect of TOOCHI and Chinwe with serious attitude and grit, represents the FUNK. But both share qualities of determination, hardworking and focused abilities that have enabled them to bring their music single handedly to this point where it is now. Both represent strong independent females confident enough to take control of their destinies and happy to share that power through their music. Support and buzz has already started to flow from the dance floor to the internet and they are being quoted ’the myspace twins’ by TOOCHI fans and music insiders alike.
The name TOOCHI comes from the start of the twins unique African names ’CHI’ combined with ’TOO’ to express the pun of TWO but also showing the extremes of their bubbly effervescent characters: Too Funky, Too Crazy, Too ladieez.. Too Twinz...? thats those TWO CHI’s....!
Having started out as just a bit of fun due to public demand (they would constantly be asked if they were a pop act on the street by passers by) and consuming their love for music and writing songs, the twins quickly started to turn themselves into a singing/dancing force hitting the London stages, showcases and various open mic nights across the city between 2000-2004 and generated a lot of press and interest in regional and national publications expanding from The Scottish Times, The Daily Star newspaper, Urban News and Marie Claire magazine to mention a few. TV appearances followed suit on MTV Base, ITV, ITV2 and Channel 4, regulary featuring on T4’s Dirty Laundry with presenter June Sarpong and music videos for Robbie Williams and Coldplay etc.
Now with their debut single ’I REPRESENT..’ produced by the Stone room Studio Team and due out in early 2008, TOOCHI has already set alight UK dance floors in clubs and bars across the country (courtesy of POWER PROMOTIONS Ltd poparazzi club promotion campaign) with huge DJ support and backing to eventually hit the top spot in the Official UK TOP 40! With MUSICWEEK Chart positions of No. 8 (Commercial POP Chart) and No.4 (Club Chartbreakers) its only a matter of time till TOOCHI’s energy catches on and gets everyone talking about the next big thing.......
