My Life, My Love, My God!

About Me

Poet and community activist Samantha T. Roden-Levy sheds light on the plight of those who suffer needlessly in the inner city. Her book, "The Illumination of My Soul" is a collection of powerful poems written about her struggle as a Christian woman who confronted a society that shuns impoverished minorities. Samantha has been a featured poet and keynote speaker at Prairie View A&M University, Texas Southern University, Aldine Y.O.U.T.H Center, and countless other bookstores, community centers, organizations, and literary events.Samantha has received numerous awards from government officials, prestigious universities, and organizations for her dedication to the community. Her poetry is published in several different mediums including newspapers, web related news media, and her work was first anthologized in a University of Houston publication when she was just eleven years old.In 2002, Samantha was blessed to be chosen as one of only twenty-five sudents who received the prestigious Red Rose Scholarship from the University Of Houston- Downtown. Samantha is also an advocate for domestic violence victims. Samantha continues to speak for those whose voices are too small to be heard. Her poetry readings are receiving newsworthy buzz around the country.Austin L. Allen, professor of history at the University of Houston-Downtown and author of "Imposing Sovereignty, Containing Slavery: Jacksonian Jurisprudence and the Origins of the Dred Scott Case, says, "In this collection of penetrating poems, Samantha Roden-Levy explores what it means to be a woman and an American in a world defined by race even when none of our categories seem to fit. I look forward to rereading this fine book and to reflecting on its contents for years to come."Violence, poverty, racism, spirituality, hope, and social acceptance are topics that Roden-Levy embraces in order to tear down the partition that separates the haves from the have-nots.Samantha T. Roden-Levy’s book, "The Illumination of My Soul" can be purchased at Amazon.com, Borders.com, Walden Books.com, Target.com, Jolanipublications.com, and other fine bookstores and literary events. For booking information, or to schedule an interview with Samantha T.
