Epiphany
By
Torrena "Torri" Dye
Comprehension?
The mystery and the majesty
of black femininity.
What miracles could we work?
. . . magic would we conjure?
if, as a group, we were to awaken
with the knowledge of who and what we are
to open our eyes . . . all of us
. . . all at once
with the knowing of an undeniable truth that
. . . to be born womon is a gift
. . . to be born BlackWomon
. . . a privilege and an honor.
Consciousness?
To awaken with the knowledge,
the realization and the acceptance
of the responsibility
that comes
with
this gift
. . . this privilege . . . this honor.
Cognition?
To know that we can, should and must
recognize this awakening in ourselves
and in our sisters
and attempt to awaken those who still sleep,
so that together we could and would . . .
subjugate the would be subjugators
. . . those that would seek to
suppress . . . oppress . . . repress
the power that exists within us
when we are a united force.
Cohesion?
When we refuse to
surrender, submit,
yield or give in
to those who, upon recognizing that we recognize
who and what we are,
look upon us
with fear and loathing
and in the fear and out of that loathing
they attempt to extinguish
the ObsidianFire
that is BlackWomon!
With our eyes open,
they cannot triumph!!!.
ah yes! Epiphany!!!
