Lyrics so fiery, flows from her being, that once captured on stage, her performance becomes poetry.
When a child is writing songs at the age of six and begins building a credible musical resume by the age of eight, it is obvious the world has an artist in the making. Jamera Simmons studies such great musicians as Anita Baker, Sade, Betty Right, Al Green, Mary J Blidge, Billie Holiday, Lauryn Hill, and Amel Larrieux.
Jamera is a talented singing/ songwriting/ producing artist who incorporates the popularity and marketability of todays trends in hip-hop and RnB with the powerful self-healing and witty lyrical ability hip-hop and soul audiences have always loved enjoyed and come back for more of. As an artist she has Aaliyah's cool and dancabilityand sex appeal, mixed with Lauryn Hill's soul and emotion, added with a pinch of Nina Simone's funny spunk and Whitney Houston's vocal Range.
Ms. Simmons began her recording career with Silver Moon Productions' CD, Light at Midnight; a project in dedication to abused women in 2003. A year later she headlined for the Save Africa Concerts project; Artists spreading AIDS awareness in the Pan-African Community. Jamera has captured audiences in New York's famous SOB's, Pianos, The Groove, as well as enchanting large audiences in Atlanta, Maryland, and in New England's Jazz Festivals. She is currently collaborating with artists such as SubTraktion and Milio of UV Ink entertainment, The Dugout (NYC), FireStarters, The Senate (ATL) and other independent artist/ producers on her debut solo album Taking It All In which will be released late September of this 2006.Hey everybody!
