First let me get this straight..I DON'T LIVE IN AFRICA!!! I currently reside in Houston but travel throughout the US. Soon I will go overseas again sooner than you know it... Here's where was BORN.. It's in Central Africa.. The Country is called Congo but can also be called: The Democratic-Republic of Congo, Zaire, or The Belgian Congo. I was born in a city near the Angola and Southern part of the Atlantic Ocean border called Matadi! It is near the capital (Kinshasa) See:
Bonjour! My name is Josianne (Joe-see-ann) can be spelt with one N or 2, I don't care! It's a French name, actually pronounced (Joez-zi-on) But you can call me (Joe-see-ann) if English is your first language. It's very important know fo learn and address a person by their name. This is the most important sound in any language and musique to ones ears. This is why people both living and deceased have buildings and statues in remembrance to their names, we recycle names for tropical disasters so people cannot be forgotten and even dogs go crazy and wag their tails in a frenzy when you call upon them!!! Yet, we are all so terrible at remembering them. We all have name, maybe some nickname or alias we prefer to be called, show that people honor and respect by adressing them by how they'd like to be remembered.
I was born in the Belgian-Congo (Central Africa) and was forced to flee from my country in the late 80s. Today is seems like everyone wants to be African, or adopt one. I am very proud of who I am and where I am from. There has been a civil war that has been going on for decades in my homeland. It officially ended in 2003, but the killing and rampaging of villages still continues. Congo is a very rich country due to its resources such as Tin, Ivory (Elephant tusk), Berelium and that "bling bling" (Diamonds). There are alot of people who work in the mines of Congo for allittle then a dollar a day and even have to bribe currupted officials and leaders to sell their findings. Ever so often you see a news report on Congo that shows the war, endangered species and all the other unfortunate happenings that occur in my homeland. You have to ask yourself, Why is Africa one of the richest continents in the world but so unstable at the same time?? Altogether my life in Africa and America has been filled with unbelievable tales of poverty, abuse, famine and betrayal. I could sit here for hours and type away everything but then that would defeat the purpose of me ever writing a book..
I started on myspace when I was a Freshman in high school. At the time, all I wanted was to be admired and adored by everyone and miss popular. Who doesn't want to feel loved, acknowledged and important? But that became the lesser of all my motivations because there are bigger problems in this world...and if you pay close enough attention to Disney cartoons they can teach you that your own massive ego can be the death of yourself.
I'm a human being just like you. Not any better than you, and not foreign to emotions and other people. The sexiest model, the best musician, most honest politician, the baddest b****, or the most talented artist is no better than you either...they are also human just like you. No matter how much money anyone makes or popular they are, they are not more deserving of any advantages than you are...Yes the world is unfair... Just know you and everyone else in this world is righteous and worthy of achieving anything you dream if you put hard work and dedication in it...and believe patience is virtue as well.
As I had mentioned in an earlier paragraph, I also had the famous struggle for acceptance and approval till one day, I just gave up caring about what other people were doing and thinking and thought about what I liked, what made me happy, and what would actually better the world instead of just my ego or bank account. There's more to me than just my body or Art. Art and my physical body is just a small fraction of who Josianne is and I am capable of achieving much more than only running around proving to you, your mom, your dad, everyone you know, the cows in the fields, fish in the sea, birds in the sky and the worms in the soil how artistic, talented or attractive I am.
If I I was given the choice, I would want to be remembered for changing the world for the better, my art, and inspiring those with nothing that they can achieve something! Being cute, beautiful, sexy can easily be bought these days. There's gotta be more to a person than that yet, it can be very beneficial in this image driven world. I suppose I can thank my gene pool for being lucky enough to obtain your attention or admiration. Most of us are highly visual creatures. I know I sure am!!! Some people may think I'm conceited because I speak with such assurance and confidence; I never said I knew it all or I was the best, but I do know a few things and I am blessed enough to be good at anything I put my heart into. But then again we all are if we want it bad enough right? I am still very easy to work with and open to new theories, perspectives and ideas.
Everyone is a singer, these days you don't even have to have a good voice to sing, all you have to do is be super sexy or marketable. Everyone is a model, and if they aren't already, there are plenty of celebrities who happily add modeling to their resume and use themselves to endorse products or images...So why would someone even try to go to an agency to hire a model if a celebrity will do it?
Everyone is a fashion designer, there are even a number of passed away musicians and artist who have their own clothing lines coming out! Wow, if someone who is dead (Bless their souls) can do it, how hard is it for you to do it as well? Everyone is an actor, you have told a lie in your life and got away with it right? My advice to people is not to do what you do for other's approval to boost your self esteem. Going to school and not relying JUST on your arts, looks, talent, or character to get by will help you in the long run. I know from experience, trust me on this one! The entertainment market is the most competitive it's ever been. Soon, even politicians will have their on record labels, Fragrances, clothing lines, and all that other good stuff. ..but always keep your dreams alive and still try to pursue them..Don't ever let anymore make you believe you can't achieve all your dreams, aspirations and desires!!!
I am going to improve the conditions in Africa and make sure people are aware of such malignity that goes around this world today. One day I will have enough power to where I can speak about these misfortunes nationally and do something to change this for good. My uncle tried to speak out in the 80s about the Congo fiasco but the fraudulent government invited him to dinner and poisoned him. I am willing to stand up for what I believe in even if it means me losing my life in the process as well. Other than that, Of course it would be nice to make a mark in history and succeed in this cold cash cultivating circle out of the billions of people on this planet who have a dream of never being forgotten.
...I fell in love with fashion when I was 12.We had no clothes in Africa and I was sadly forced to walk around naked..boobs and booty all out..JUST KIDDING!!! ...LOL! That's what people seem to think about Africa for some odd reason though...The real reason is b/c my dad couldn't afford to buy me a school uniform. I began sewing my brother's clothes (B-Boy Mpo) to fit me so I could wear them to school to get my education! Since then, my life has been devoted to it. I make my clothes for my photo shoots, sell my clothes online, do shows, and style other people's events/shoots. I am not your typical 20 yr old and there's more to my life than drug infested parties and drama. Although I have been known to dance my heart out half naked and drunk from time to time..
I started modeling when I was 14. My cousin (who is also into fashion and modeling) brought me to my first shoot and since then I've shot with hundreds of photographers and taken thousands of pictures. Most photographers did'nt give me the time of day because I was a punk rock black chick with piercings and wild hair...I'm still that same girl...(minus piercings!)
People come to me and ask me "How do I get started in modeling??? Got any tips?" My answer: I have no idea. You don't see me on TV or national magazines yet, so what exactly do I know? I'm simply an artist!!! All this you see is just part time thing at this point in my life and by no means is the only thing that's paying all my expenses. Oh yeah and by the way, I'm only 5'6 which doesn't help too much...But I make it work for me and with enough determination, you can make your weak points work for you too :D
I started singing about half a year ago and it's an amazing journey. I am not expecting to win a Grammy or be on every radio station, I just want to be heard. I started acting at the spur of the moment thing. My first role was a streetwalker. Ha, I was pissed off at first and refused to get a part based on my looks knowing I could show more talent than just saying "Hey baby.." and batting my lashes, but it ended up to be film that Danny Trejo starred in! I am not expecting to win an Oscar, I just want to be seen. It's like modeling basically, just act into character. I do an African dance (Ndombello) and Belly dance as well, it's fun and good exercise..
I have faith that my mind is articulate, inspiring and contains enough charisma to take me further in life. I don't need to be everywhere for you to know who I am or worthy. I can be an underground artist forever, and a part of me would actually prefer to stay an underground artist so all I do does not lose substance and become just a paycheck. You already know who I am and obviously care enough to read this far into my page. Wide recognition is nice, but uncommon when you walk to the beat of your own drum and refuse to switch to what sells the most, shock value, or whatever everyone else is doing. Yeah yeah yeah blah blah blah I've said too much. What do I know I'm just a pretty face right that doesn't get paid to give a crap about anything besides getting myself off, senseless entertainment, or creating chaos and commotion around myself right? ....
and who really cares anyways about changing this world? I'll answer that, people with ECLECTIC TASTE, INTEGRITY or/and SUBSTANCE. Yeah I got gazillion friends on myspace, so what!!!! People NEED to see new things and ideas!!! People will soon enough expand their horizons by not being afraid to openly embrace and enjoy the rise of the Art Model (a model who expresses themselves through poses, expressions other art mediums and is a rare/exotic beauty)...
We women and girls all around the world will no longer feel to limit themselves by only making money ONLY by the need to get fake enhancements, Acting dumb and giggly, or even being but naked all the time, starting their own nude site or joining any of the current ones...out of hunger for exposure, money and attention...Instead, they will be comfortable enough to be themselves as they realize that each and every one of us in this universe has a unique story that is not one dimensional..
Bottomline, I came to America as a scared, bald, malnourished, poor, unknown little girl but I WILL leave this country as an strong, beautiful, weatlthy, empowering & inspiring woman. I refuse to take no for an answer. Not because I "deserve" it, but because I will make it happen. Everything my heart desires will come true...today.. tommorow, or when I'm like 40...But it will all happen..
I WILL succeed...You just wait and see..
