Raquel Paulo is a Spinto Soprano. She was born in Oporto in 1988, where she started her music study with the age of six. With nine years old she started studying violin, in “Conservat?rio de M?sica do Porto†, with Cunha e Silva and Jos? Paulo Jesus. With 13 years old she started having singing classes with Palmira Troufa, a great Dramatic Coloratura Soprano.
She had sang in the chorus of the opera “Brundib?r†of Hans Krasa and Adolf Hoffmeister, and “Der Jasager†of Kurt Weill and Bertold Brecht in “Casa da M?sicaâ€. She had also sang the role of the Aunt of Cio-Cio-San in the opera “Madama Butterfly†of G. Puccini in Coliseu do Porto.
In 2007 had sang the main role of the Operita Tango “Maria de Buenos Aires†de Astor Piazzolla, in the Concert version of “Conservat?rio de M?sica do Porto†in the “Teatro Helna S? e Costa†(Porto) and “C.C.B.†(Lisbon).
As a concertsinger she sang the Soprano Solo in the “Mass in G Major†of Carlos Seixas, in the “Coronation Mass†of W. A. Mozart and in the “Christmas Oratorio†of C. Saint-S?ens, and in excerpts of the “Requiem†of Mozart and “Requiem†of Verdi.
Raquel Paulo won a Honours Mention in “Concurso de Santa Cec?lia†of the school “Curso de M?sica Silva Monteiro†in the Category B, and the first prize in the Category C (2006) and B (2007) of “Concurso Interno do Conservat?rio de M?sica do Portoâ€.
In 2007 won a Honours Mention in “Concurso Nacional de Canto Lu?sa Todi†.
She is Goldsmith, by the “Soares dos Reis†school.
She still improving her formation with her only teacher till now, Palmira Troufa.
