The sound of music coming from a Spanish guitar serenaded this 24 year old into the world. Born Melissa Figueroa, she was given the name Cha-Cha because whenever she hears a pulsating rhythm she immediately begins to dance.Coming from the west side projects of Cleveland, Ohio this star in the making was surrounded by many family musicians and singers. Cha-Cha began singing and amazing audiences at an early age. Her third grade choir teacher was so impressed by her version of “The Greatest Love of Allâ€, she gave Cha-Cha the lead in her classes school choir.
A position she held until her final performance at her schools 6th grade graduation. Always involved in extra-curricular activities, Cha-Cha’s parents enrolled her into Cleveland’s prestigious Karamu House. There she took singing, acting, and dancing classes. Also, involved with many community centers throughout the city, this wonderful talent vowed to keep kids off drugs and off the streets.Many singing groups and projects came soon after that, which afforded her the chance to meet record label executives, and other very influential people. In 2004, she wooed the likes of one of the most famous judging trios known in America today, Randy, Paula and Simon. Cha-Cha went on to Hollywood as one of Ohio’s top finalist for American Idol.Currently, signed to Visible Lyrics Record Company. Cha-Cha is moving into a new phase of her career. The label is allowing her the creative right to be a solo artist in the genre of pop music. Her new single entitled “Bring the Beat Back†produced by T-Minus Entertainment is being promoted worldwide. Cha-Cha always dreamed of becoming a music icon. With her beauty, grace and talent, that dream is not far from her reach.
