About Me

This is the MySpace site of Spectrum: one of the UKs best known underground music club brands. Being the brainchild of Pete Jordan, the first night in February 2001 at the Beatroot Club in Nottingham, saw 450 people dancing to a little known brand of dance music that at that point was considered by many to be just a backroom thing. Unashamedly pushing breakbeat into the main room Spectrum soon became the clubbers choice in the East Midlands winning over new fans to the music and of course the unique Spectrum party style.
As the name would suggest, it was never about pigeon holes, and the insistance of keeping things varied (across all rooms and all sets) guaranteed an interesting night of music. Still based in Nottingham at Stealth, after two years at The Bomb and one at Beatroot, the night continues to pull in crowds of upto and over a thousand on a regular basis. Such is the popularity of Spectrum, three Breakspoll Awards for Best Club Event have been the highlight of many awards.
Hundreds of the worlds best live acts and DJs have performed at Spectrum. The night has spread its wings in recent years and now holds regular events in Birmingham (Custard Factory), London (Medicine Bar), Leicester (Original Four), Coventry (Dogma) and Sheffield (Sheffield Hallam Union), events in Budapest, Bratislava, and a number of smaller interesting bar and club nights in Nottingham.
The Sound of Spectrum record label kicked off in May 2006 with a lot of press, radio and DJ backing, keep an eye out for forthcoming releases. www.myspace.com/soundofspectrumrecords.
