Welcome to the profile of Nottingham based DJ and Promoter Luke Richardson. With over 7 years of dancefloor experience behind him Luke is quickly becoming one of the areas most established house music DJs. With residencies and regular guest appearances at some of the areas largest clubs and most exclusive bars Luke DJs professionally as well as running his own promotions company, Intensity.
Unlike many other DJs Luke is not restricted by a particular type of house and enjoys playing everything from classics, old school and commercial cuts to jazzy, soulful and tribal house. One of the key features of Luke’s sets are their accessibility to all types of audience, he believes too often house is seen like a science with DJs trying to outsmart each other, and in the process loosing what it’s all about, the crowd. To this end many of his sets include vast influences of funk, disco and jazz breaking the four four rhythm and as such breathing new life in to any audience. Also a competent pianist and an aspiring producer he creates his own edits and remixes to give his sets something new and original.
Luke started Djing in 2000 and played various gigs in Sussex before moving to Nottingham for University. Once there he was quick to secure his first residency at Nottingham Trent Students Union where he’s now the main room resident, playing for over 1,500 people every Saturday. From there he continued spinning around the city going international for the first time in 2006 when he spent a season Djing in Faliraki. The following year shortly after graduating he was invited to play a couple of sets in Ibiza and what started off as one night ended up being over fifteen gigs. This included broadcasting his soul-satellite radio show live from the beach, twice. A first for the station and a perfect launch for his newly founded promotions company, Intensity. Now in 2008 with Intensity developing well and the recent successful launch of funk, disco, jazz and house joint project ‘Feel Good Phonic’ Luke plans to keep doing what he loves both sides of the DJ / Promoter split. That’s pleasing crowds across the country and the world with his ever expanding, adapting and evolving style and passion.
