That girl inside of me, she's who I wanna be...

About Me

After moving to Toronto from Vancouver in 2004, Kym Stewart has jumped into the local country community with naked abandon. Winner of Country 95.3 Canadian Country Superstar competition, Kym sang for 16 straight weeks, beating out over 60 other vocalists, to earn the opportunity to open at C95's Canada Day Jam, Canada's largest free outdoor country concert, with headliners George Straight, Emerson Drive, and Doc Walker. In December of 2005, Kym placed second of over 180 contestants in KX96's Radio Talent Search, winning the production of her first single at Cradle To Rave Studios as part of the radio station's prize package. Kym hit the mainstage at the Barrie Fair for the finals of KICX 104's North Of Nashville Star in August 2006 as one of 9 chosen from the over 100 vocalists who competed, and finished 3rd overall.Born into a musical family in North Vancouver, BC, Kym has been performing since she was 3 years old. At the age of 6, Kym started singing with the Vancouver Children's Choir, a professional audition-based choir that toured all over the world as Canadian Ambassadors, placing second at the International Choral Istedfodd in Wales in 1994. A frequent soloist, Kym had the opportunity to perform with numerous musical celebrities, including David Foster, the Nylons, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and international opera star Ben Hepner. Kym is most thrilled to have had the opportunity to sing for HRH Prince Charles and Lady Diana when they visited Vancouver for the World Exposition. With the VCC, Kym sang on 3 recordings produced at Vancouver's Peter Allen Studios, owned by Brian Adams.Although music has always been central to Kym's life, Kym pursued a career in Veterinary Medicine, completing her 8 year degree in 2004. After entering UBC, Kym minored in Vocal Performance and studied under Diane Loomer, director of BC's Chor Leone, working to continually improve her craft. She began fronting The Crayons, a professional dance band who's music ranged from 40's swing to Kym's favourite, country. She sang the national anthem at GM place for both Vancouver Grizzlies and Vancouver Canucks games. After moving to Saskatoon, SK, to complete her veterinary degree, Kym began singing at church with JUNO award winning country artist Jessica Robison. Jessica encouraged Kym to take her music further, and with a final move to Toronto in 2004, Kym has taken that next step. While in Toronto, Kym has enjoyed sitting in with the Bareback Riders, winners of Corus Entertainment's Canada-wide Battle of the Bands competition, and South Mountain, a high-demand bar band on the local pro circuit. Currently in studio working on her premier single and video, Kym is thrilled to be starting this next exciting phase of her musical career.
