About Me

MARK LORENZ

Born and raised in a traditional country farming community, Mark was like a lot of rural kids, he lived, breathed and worked the farm. Traveling and country music became a way, competing in horse shows throughout the continent, while listening to the classic country tunes en route to shows. No wonder, when after recording a country single for a high school friend's birthday, and the response being enough to give him the courage to get and try his hand at singing. All has morphed into something substantial and he has been traveling and writing throughout Canada and the USA ever since. Embellishing on his own brand of country music, he continues to establish his hold on country music fans with each performance. Not every day does one get to work at what they love to do, but in this whirlwind of country music, Mark has been given that opportunity, through the support of his wife and family. Influenced by many of great artists from all genres, enables Mark to exude his passion for music, entertaining, as well as songwriting.Having the opportunity to release his debut cd in 1998, and the title track, “Reputation” being played on radio across Canada, only increased his desire to do more. Therefore, a sophomore cd, “Black” was released in 2006. Nine of the ten songs were self-penned and can relate to real emotions and life situations people go through. With two singles “Hillbilly State of Mind” and “Wouldn't Change A Thing” being released to Canadian radio in 2007, and a third, “The Way She Walks Away” released in January 2008, Mark is currently traveling back and forth to Nashville in pursuit of yet another new cd. This year has embarked a new chapter within Mark's recording career, having been given new opportunities, such as playing at Telus Country Fever as well as the Big Valley Jamboree Molson Stage. As quoted by the Edmonton Sun “Alberta boy, Mark Lorenz will certainly grab the audience's attention at the Saturday night beer gardens.”In 2007, was the start of Mark's charity golf tournament for the Kids Up Front Foundation, which is a charity who helps the less fortunate kids and families of today, make their dreams come reality. For now, this native Albertan singer/songwriter, will continue to enthrall his ever growing fans base with a sound that has a blend of traditional country, uptown country and rock, with live performances ranging in mixture from his original songs, George Jones, Merle Haggard, George Strait to Brian Adams and John Cougar!
