Common Denominator is a NON-PROFIT 501(c)(3) corporationMISSIONWe produce projects in the arts that feature underserved youth from diverse backgrounds, in order to promote a better understanding of social, economic, and cultural differences.VISION Common Denominator envisions a world in which youth from all walks of life are exposed to new cultures and connected with their counterparts to participate in diverse artistic projects. Each of these projects will culminate in a public performance or event. The formation and rehearsal of selected projects will be filmed in documentary format. By promoting exposure to diverse cultures via both participants and the documentary audience, Common Denominator stimulates the exchange of creative arts, expression, cultural beliefs and practices, thereby creating a true celebration of life.VALUES We feel that teaching “tolerance” among different groups is not enough. By definition, tolerance means that one group will accept or indulge another group, with the subtext that its beliefs are lesser or fundamentally wrong. By exposing diverse groups of youth to one another in a safe, creative, artistic environment, Common Denominator strives to explore, understand, and celebrate our differences--not simply tolerate them.
