About Me

Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4In early 2003, as Mackenzie began work on his third album, he was hired to write, produce and perform a theme song for the new Discovery Channel program MONSTER HOUSE, and became the sole composer for the show. A new album of songs from MONSTER HOUSE was released by Discovery/Original Productions in time for the 2004 Holidays. In 2004 Dan received an EMMY nomination for the theme song of Monster House! (While RANDY NEWMAN won the actual award, Dan received glowing compliments on his spiffy suit from the "Queer Eye" crew.) That year Dan also won the ASCAP Foundation's Award for songwriting, an honor previously bestowed upon John Mayer and Josh Ritter. He performed his winning song "Sitting On A Train" at the Awards ceremony in NY, where the legendary songwriter Jack Lawrence was given a lifetime achievement award.Mackenzies last release, "A Complete Unknown" (What Are Records?) received high marks from critics around the country. WWJD and Paint The White House Green drew widespread attention from major political groups. (He performed at a variety of fundrasiers for democratic and green candidates.) Daniel produced a video to accompany WWJD which was quickly chosen by MOVEON.ORG for their Bush In 30 Seconds dvd release (one of 50 videos out of over 1500 applicants). You've heard "Wake Up" in Television's Jack and Bobby, and "Room For You" in Everwood, as Dan's songs continue to find placement in Film And Television.Open to new label representation both here and overseas, Mackenzie is currently living in Santa Monica, CA putting finishing touches on his latest album"Gold Confetti" (mixed by Robbie Adams of 'ACHTUNG BABY' renown!), AND a children's album (under the name Dan Dan Doodlebug) AND putting together a new band...AND bodysurfing whenever possible...
