Ashowka

Uk Festival Tour 2008

About Me

Ashowka are a fusion rock band that emerged in Bristol in 2006, playing highly original and innovative music inspired by a wide range of jazz and heavy rock influences. The music is a fusion of the bitches brew era style jazz with early 70's Rock such as Jimi Hendrix and Mahavishnu as well as other modern Jazz and Rock influences such as Bad Plus and Hella. The band has quickly acquired a strong foothold in the Bristol music scene. Originally under the name Bipolar Bear they started playing frequently across the southwest under ‘Nothing Beats Management’.
Throughout 2007 Ashowka have played for wimwam.net promotions in support of the Bristol 'Daniel Pearl world music days', supported 'Konono no.1' for 'Qu Junktions' promotion, played the 'St Georges Park Festival' Colston Hall and 'The Ancients Did Jazz' gathering at the Trinity Centre.
Ashowka are proud to have played alongside some great acts, including 10cc, Helele, Konono Number 1, Zun Zun Egui, and RSVP
The Music on this site is a selection of the first Ashowka E.P. Recorded by Dave Lewis, a produced who has worked with Prince, U2 and Pink Floyd. Ashowka are currently working on their second E.P. Due out before the end of the year, this E.P. will showcase Ashowka's developing music and influences from music around the world.
