Sounds Like: “Listening to Billy Whims is a little bit like meandering through a forest full of tall green trees, in the rain. Everything sparkly and shimmering, wearing red gumboots, splashing through all the puddles whilst finding your way home to a place you know will be warm. When you get there, her gentle, lilting, almost childlike voice, invites you to take a seat, have some tea, and chat awhile about anything at all, and everything. There is so much fascination and curiosity in her music. Curiosity for the tiny nuances of human life, the things that we see as children, and then forget to look for as adults, and fascination with those rare moments that change the course of such lives forever. She is always unflinchingly honest about her beliefs, her sentiments, about the things that she knows and the things that she doesn’t, and the things she maybe wants to learn. Billy’s music passes on this sense that there are parts of life that we do not know, which are elusive and mysterious. But instead of being dark and fearful, these spaces and places are enchanting, and when we do happen upon something, accidentally, out of the blue, it breaks your heart with it’s charming simplicity.” – Courtney Blunsdon
