3rd Machine

About Me

3rd Machine started halfway 2005 when two old friends John (Horizon) and Ronald (Evisceration, Horizon) visited an After Forever show. Seeing this band brought back some memories from their days in Horizon and both got inspired again to dust off their instruments and start playing again. Soon Finus (Evisceration, Horizon) and Niek (Evisceration) joined them and a new band was born.
Musically, it was the intention to start where there former project Seven Of Eleven had ended: tense riffs with powerful drums. However, after some weeks of composing we rediscovered our true nature and it didn't take long before we wandered off into the land of melody again.
In comparison with our former bands, 3rd Machine was the logical next step in our evolution. It's less metal, maybe even rock here and there with strong harmonies and a key role for the keyboards and vocals.
In the summer of 2006 it was time to get some tracks recorded as we are getting ready to play live. This demo was recorded in Excess in Rotterdam with producer Hans Pieters.
Right after the demo, we decided to get a second guitarplayer to get a heavier sound. Fortunately, Pieke (Horizon) emerged after some years of obscurity and was quickly asked to join the band.
However, not very long after that we noticed we were unhappy with our current style and decided to leave the "safe haven" of melodic metal and sail the open ocean again. We decided to put a capital M in "Metal", which resulted is some really heavy songs. It's almost a 180 degree turn from where we started off, but it was definitely worth the effort. And last but not least, the bandname fits the music now. 8-)
Right now we are getting ready to do some gigs. Venues that are interested are kindly asked to get in touch!

Influences: We're influenced by many groups, including non-metal bands. However, it's safe to say melodic and symphonic metal bands have had a great impact on our musical history. Bands like Paradise Lost, Opeth, Queensryche, SYL/Devin Townsend and Rammstein have subconsciously influenced as, allthough you probably don't hear most of these influences in our music.

Sneak preview!

We posted the first 2 songs. They still have to be mastered, so the final thing should be spiced up a little more. Next week we'll be mixing the other two songs called Water and Saraphin.
