Phoenix FM

it's a real radio station!

About Me

TEN YEARS IN FIVE SENTENCES
Phoenix FM is a not-for-profit community radio station broadcasting to Brentwood and Billericay since 1996. We’ve undertaken 12 28-day FM licences since then (including 2 in Basildon) and Ofcom, in their mighty wisdom, have given us a FULL TIME FM LICENCE and we started broadcasting on 98.0FM at 7 pm on 23 March 2007.
In the meantime we have several shows which you can subscribe to by podcast. We’ve been streaming on line since June 2001, when the internet was still an expensive, non-broadbandy thing – we were the first community radio station in the UK to do this.
We’re not owned by anyone and don’t play all the rubbish you hear on big commercial stations 24 hours a day (although we do play that sometimes).
MUSIC SUBMISSIONS POLICY
We have several specialist music shows which include indie, rock, metal, electronica, blues and soul. All programmes have varying degrees of “local signed/unsigned” bands (local usually meaning Essex and East London). We'll play anything we like but please bear in mind that our station policy is weighted towards our local audience
The best thing to do is to send us a CD to Phoenix FM, The Baytree Centre, Brentwood, Essex CM14 4BX and we’ll sent it to the relevant person.
Specialist music shows are as follows:
Indie/Rock/Electronica: Brentwood’s Only Alternative
Indie/Rock: Gemcast
Indie/Rock/Eclectic: Curveballs
Prog Rock: Dave O Prog Rock Show
Blues: Digital Blues
Indie/Experimental/Talk: Rehab
Soul: Bully’s Boogie Box
Chat: Bully and the Bear
Rock: The Sunday Show
Other presenter homepages:
Chris T-T : Eddie : Les : Steve M : Xanthe
