About Me

HAVERING ROCK BAND OF THE YEAR
Hey, welcome to the strings of fire page whether you've come here on purpose or you've stumbled upon us, you haven't got a choice but to listen to all the songs on here before you go :). And if you like it, message us! AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS!
We do this type of music because we enjoy it and metal is still around and you don't have to be heavy as fuck to be Metal. SO FUCK INDIE MUSIC + ALL BMTH WANNABES
"Strings Of Fire are like metal on prozac"
And since their first gig in August of 2004, that same energy has never left the four young metallers from Essex. They hail from Havering, south-east London and have played in many places around the area, including Upstairs & Downstairs at The Garage, Grays Civic Hall, The Twist The Cauliflower and have sold out MusicTek and Dagenham Festival. Also had a great time playing with Devilsoldhissoul, Hell Is For Heroes, CI-XI, The Gourami, Wemoveasone and many many more.
Strings of Fire, or S.O.F. are a four piece band, comprising of 20 year old lead vocalist and guitarist Jack Sherriff, whose raw vocals have developed to such a style that lets him hit the highest of notes, whilst still maintaining true power and aggression. Along with Jack, the songs are predominantly written and composed by lead guitarist Andy Feehan, also 20. His varied influences in music are the main drive behind the eclectic mix of sounds heard in S.O.F.'s songs. On bass guitar is Andy 'Ducky' Graves, whose funk orientated rhythms and melodies add a vibe rarely heard in a genre like this. Behind the kit is James Foale, utilising new-school double bass mixed with the catchy rock beats of old, and adding colour to the songs with vocal harmonies and electronics.
The band have spent the best part of two years trying to define a sound that suits them most, and are all comfortable in producing. After a short break in the summer of '06, they re-grouped with new fire and understanding and the music just kept on coming. Settling on a rock-based feel with the odd bit of metal chucked in, S.O.F. create an energetic wall of catchy tunes that whilst easy to bang your head to, allow the audience to sing along at the top of their lungs to inspiring chorus' and quick verses. Taking influence from such legendary bands as Iron Maiden and Metallica, they are set on creating a new sound, but try to maintain the fundamental features that made the said bands so popular.
In April 2006 the band recorded their E.P. 'Alive at Last', featuring songs such as 'Blood is the Sweetest Revenge', 'Bruised and Broken' and S.O.F.'s first independently released single, 'Exhale', is now available on iTunes.
Strings of Fire rolled into 2007 with the same creativity, fire and energetic live show as the previous year, and the future will hopefully hold good things. The year has already treated them well being put onto the Back To Business compilation album "Get A Grip" out in june. Amongst the many gigs they have played already this year the highlight was playing the 15,000 people capacity Dagenham Festival. The week after the band was crowned Havering Rock Band of the Year in May. Here is section of the review the night Strings Of Fire won Havering Rock Band Of The Year. "Strings Of Fire produced a tight accomplished set boasting unusual skilled contrast of mellow rock and trash metal. Haunting hoarse vocals, great guitar solos and rolling drums completed the package. Traditional rock blended well with the unexpected sweetness of their melodies and many agreed if not already headed for great things then the band soon would be" by Nadiah Scammell.
In May the band recorded their follow up to 2006's 'Alive At Last?' by recording a 5 track E.P entitled 'Another Day Begins' which features ferocious new tracks "Silence" and "A Word To The Wise" the CD was independently released by the band on their own 'Reign Of Fire Records' on the 2nd June 2007.

I'm a big fan of Strings Of Fire, they've come along way since when they formed 2004. 2006 they wrote their first E.P "Alive At Last" which went down a treat, they independantly released 'Exhale' on Itunes.
Now in May 2007 here is the follow up to "Alive At Last".

Opening this spectacular E.P is 'Katana Giri' which gets the band off to a blinder and leads well into 'Silence'. This E.P is definatley proving better than "Alive At Last" with Andy Feehan bringing you those shredding guitar riffs, Jack Sherriff bringing you a mature sound like no other. 'A Word To The Wise' is a killer track which is being featured on our very own "Get A Grip" compilation CD. I'd like to state usually most backing vocals come from other guitarists but not this time, not only is James Foale bringing you those kick ass drum beats but also supplying those great vocals. One of my favourites from this E.P 'Another Day Begins', Andy Graves introducing you to the song with his unique bass playing, then into the rest of the intro which just does it for me. Rapping this amazing E.P up now with 'This Is What You Call A Promise'.

When you hear a band name like strings of fire you get the impression of a bunch of kids playing in their garage with hopes of being the next guns and roses, but this band are far from it. It turns out they're quite aptly named, as lead guitarist Andy Feehan shows that he definetly knows what he is doing in their latest EP release 'Another day begins'.
The epic intro 'Katana Giri' sounds like it would be more suited in a bollywood movie, until the band start to shred their way into opening track 'Silence'. It shows an exact example of what this band are good at...playing tunes that you really can't help but nod your head to. Strings of fire have clearly gone for a epic feel to the whole of the record, with piano intros and screams that would rip your face off, this band would please any self respecting metaller, whether it's from old skool Iron maiden and Metallica fans to Bullet for my valentine metalcore fans...this record clearly caters for all.
They have exceeded their last release 'Alive at last?' From a band that have so much potential to do so well, I'm expecting big things from this band after the release of 'Another day begins'.
