About Me

Contakt Recordings is an Italian Milan-based label specialising in electronic music. We are distributed nationwide by Self (www.self.it) and worldwide on digital music stores (iTunes, Napster and many more). Our music has often been chosen for the soundtracks of television commercials (Sony w300, Fiat Punto Blu&me, Samsung school in action), themes of tv programmes (MTV's Hit List Italia, for instance) and Italian fashions shows (Ferragamo, A.Dell'Acqua).
ARTISTS
CQFP
CQFP stands for both Come Quando Fuori Piove [When its raining outside] and ceramic quad flat pack, a semiconductor employed in hi-tech production. CQFP is the name of an experimental music project involving very diverse music experiences. Such a name perfectly suits the twofold nature of the music, a cross between traditional forms and instruments and extensive electronic manipulation.
The soundscape consists of material usually discarded, such as background noises, distortions and interferences. Open-air recordings in a railway station or a glacier were also made, following the principles of Concrete Music. Such a framework features melodies and harmonies characteristic of tonal music as well as moments of improvisation.
CQFP formed in Milan in 2002. Composer Alessandro Cornelli, trumpeter Mario Cavallaro and electronic programmer Gabriele dAmora were part of the original line-up, which would later include violinist Duccio Beluffi. Although their influences and experiences differ significantly from electronica and jazz, to pop and classical music they have been playing together for many years.
Creativeness and expertise are the keywords of CQFPs live show, featuring the songs included in their debut album Welcome The Rainy Day and accompanied by breath-taking visuals.
POLAR 11
Normality has become a standard we are accustomed to. For Polar 11, creativity is so essential that it has become ordinary. At their house its quite normal to see a PC built inside an old VHS videorecorder only to discover its one of the most well-known servers on the web. At their house its quite normal to see two laptops emitting a powerful, enjoyable and fresh sound and then find out its completely live We think they're great!

DELEYVA
It all happened by chance. The idea was to arrange a live set at home, using the equipment available, with Ibiza in mind. It was a sort of domestic rave, organised in an attempt to liven up a grey winter evening. Everything was recorded, although part of it would later turn out to be inaudible or just crazy after all, the only rule of the game was the complete freedom to play.
The positive outcome of the event brought about more sessions, which also involved pop-oriented pixie Luca Urbani, who later converted to dance music after a sudden illumination on the dancefloor of the Amnesia club in Ibiza. Matteo Agosti, on the other hand, was in charge of refining the recorded material.
A few songs came out of it, as did the intention to perform them in a live set based on improvisation and digital re-elaboration. The two called themselves Deleyva firstly because Matteo lives on the very street that bears the real name of the Nun of Monza in Alessandro Manzonis The Betrothed (Marianna De Leyva), and secondly because the sound of this name is a sort of tribute to 70s disco music.
After the first experiments in electronic anarchy, the sound and the dynamics were refined and Deleyva present live set, which is heavily techno and hard-house oriented, has been recently enhanced by the presence of a percussionist and a funk guitarist. Although the project is focused on the live dimension, Deleyvas collaborations with DJ Monier and JL allowed the duo to record and release the 12 vinyl single Happy Spacemen and the CD single Amiamoci.
Luca and Matteo started collaborating many years ago. Luca Urbani used to be the singer of Soerba, an electro-pop band that became famous with the single I Am Happy in 1999. Luca released three albums with the band (Playback, 1998: La Vittoria Dei Cattivi, 2001; Beside, 2002), the last two being produced by Matteo Agosti and himself. He also collaborated with several artists (Alice, Bluvertigo, Garbo and Mao) as a writer. Matteo Agosti has played guitar in several pop-rock bands and together with Luca, he produced Garbos single Migliaia Di Rose as well as other remixes.
