Chelsea is a gifted, twelve-year old classical pianist that has been identified as a child prodigy. Chelsea began taking piano lessons at the age of 4 1/2 under the instruction of Eugenia Betman. She is currently attending The Special Music School in New York City. The first and only school of its kind in the country, The Special Music School is a unique partnership between The Elaine Kaufman Cultural Center and The Department of Education.


Founded in 1996, and based on The Special Music Schools in the former Soviet Union, The Special Music School provides musically-gifted children with a unique combination of intensive music studies and top-rated academics within a regular school day. Affirming theories on “music and the brain,” The Special Music School, whose students are admitted solely for musical aptitude, has consistently scored at or near the top of all New York City schools in both reading and math.


Chelsea is a humble yet fierce competitor. She began competing and winning piano competitions since the age of 5. Chelsea has been a winner in her last 10 straight competitions.

In addition to Chelsea performing in competitions, Chelsea has already performed at a variety of major venues: Madison Square Garden, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Weill Recital Hall at Carneige Hall, CAMI Hall, Merkin Hall, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and the Country Music Association's Festival in Nashville with Big and Rich.

Chelsea has been featured in several publications such as Newsday’s City Life, Outstanding African-American Students, and National Geographic.


Eric Cohen Books, established in 1980, is the leading publisher of English Language Teaching (ELT) materials specializing in publishing ELT books for Israel and abroad. Eric Cohen Books will be using Chelsea’s life story in their upcoming text books. They were fascinated by Chelsea’s story and wanted to use it to enlighten and encourage children in Israel, Greece, and Spain.


Chelsea’s emails have reflected how much of a positive role model she has become for many young children. She personally responds to every email she receives. Chelsea has touched people all around the world regardless of their age, sex, nationality, profession, and so on. The demand for her DVD from parents and musicians is overwhelming.

"Feel The Colors"

I can feel the colors. But not as others have described them to me.
Blue, to me, is not cold, distant, uncaring, sorrow. BLUE is floating, unrestrained and without fear ... Reaching for the sky and beyond.
Stretching unbridled to gently pluck from the heavens the furthest star. Feel the blue of its brilliance. Feel the blue.
Green, to me, is not jealousy, envy nor the mighty dollar. GREEN is running ... running really, really fast ... Then taking a vast leap across a plush carpet of someone's freshly mowed lawn, in mid air, making the most perfect split and several graceful pirouettes ...
As the grass watches in amazement at such magic being performed above then welcomes the dancer back to earth with open arms and begs that he do it again and again. Feel the green.
Red, to me, is not anger, hostility, animosity. Red can be so complex yet so simple. RED is the distant horizon over a body of water as I cross a bridge in a train car, the sun having set,
Precisely to the point where the surrounding sky is streaked with a fiery explosion of various shades of amber, orange and ... red. My heart swells with such a feeling of joy, a tear surprises my face.
Or
RED is the ribbon with which I have oh so carefully wrapped the gift for my very best friend. A gift that will bring him such a feeling of joy, A tear will surprise his face. Red is Joy.

"Advice When Visiting Irene and Ivor"

Irene has some moggies that often cause grief. Their antics, performance, are beyond belief!
Mousey here, mousey there would not be so bad. But they steal Ivor's shoes; Now isn't that sad?
Poor Ivor is barefoot and swats at the moggie Who pokes in his ears unfettered by doggie.

One doggie so sweet; Irene claims she's retarded. Licks all that's in sight, wags her tail. I'm bombarded!
Two Pence is unique it's quite safe to say. Barking at clothes poles so they'll go away.
When you go to visit Ivor and Irene, their mischievous moggies do hide, can't be seen.
Keep your shoes on at all times and don't take them off. A mousey will hop in as moggies all scoff.
So listen and take my advice to heart. Those moggies and doggies truly are smart!
Don't ever be fooled by their charm and allure. The surprise of a mouse is not easy to cure!

"The Deadly Trek"

As stealth as a cat, I stole through the night with a maddened but ashen face. Except for the moon, there wasn't a light. But, I stayed at a steady pace.
A hard lump formed in my throat with fear knowing what I was going to do. With knife in hand and it being planned I would make this nightmare come true.
His door was locked but that mattered not, Most determined to reach my goal. I hoped and prayed that I wouldn't get caught. Yet I knew it so wrong in my soul.
Through the window I crawled and into his room with my knife still steady in place. Was it true he had finally met his doom? I must check in my pocket for mace!
I crept inside right up to his bed And whispered the words that were true. Surprise Indeed My Very Fine Friend!
