About Me

Click for Podcast EDITOR’S Pick Rennick - To the Skies - "Melancholic gothic electro pop resides nicely in Rennicks To the Skies. A beautifully carved album riff with melodies and dark harmonies, To the Skies features nicely layered electronica and a sugar-coated pop vocal. I review tons of bands every two weeks but rarely does one so jump out at me as Rennick did. Check em out, you will not be disappointed. ATTENTION LABELS, this could net you a cool platinum or two." - J-Sin Smother Magazine

"Now here is a CD that was an unexpected treat. I never heard of Rennick until now. Everything is performed by Rennick and after listening to To The Skies I am wondering who is this incredible song writer and vocalist? There is just something about the overall mood of this CD. It is full of melancholy and dark pop overtones. It is dark, accostic, it is synthpop, it is rock , it is trip-hop. It takes on many different moods and if you are into The Smiths and Morrissey this is an artist for you. There is something magical about this CD and just makes me go back for another listen each time. Maybe it is the vocals? The vocals have this dark pop feel that will really hook you in just like Morrissey. Musically, To the Skies is filled with beautiful dark melodies that tend to put you in a mellow mood. Songs I would recommend since I cant stop listening to them are: World Spins By, the beautiful dark ballad of Tonight is our Night ( The Prom Song), Love Twice, Someone Like You and Peep Show. This is an artist that you should not miss and you will be pleasantly surprised when you hear this CD. Go to www.rennickmusic.com to hear some song samples." review by - Julie Johnson
"RENNICK TO THE SKIES: To The Skies was written, performed and produced by solo artist Rennick. Rennick plays eight different instruments on his debut CD, although none is dominant. He has a pensive vocal style that on occasion is reminiscent of Morrissey, which is layered over modern electronic arrangements. Rennick’s melodies are haunting with dark lyrics and a style that is an unusual blend of goth, pop and techno. This ten-track CD is creative with its layered textures and tones. Each song has its distinctive, often serious mood. Rennick is a one-man band crafting contemporary music that is original. He is already working on a second record, which will allow Rennick to develop even more as an artist." Recommended Tracks: (1,4) [USA/CA 2006 - web] (Review by Laura Turner Lynch for Kweevak.com
"I just started listening, for the first time in my life, your album (and your music) "To The Skies" and I have to say, this is one of the best ones I have ever listened to and I listen to alot of different kinds of music. It really goes on the same level as my thoughts. Thanks for making this album and I wish you all the best for the future. I will be eagerly waiting your next "one" and hope you keep making them as long as possible!" Yours, Pyry

"I really like the fact that you write, produce, arrange and perform all of your songs. That’s the way it should be! Really good job. You have a unique sound, your talented. I wish you the best Rennick!!" Best Regards Michel Bitar DeFan
"Rennick has a smooth polished dark-new / gothic sound. This would be at home as much in the80s as it is now. It is never very extreme. In fact, there are some very pop moments. Strangely, thats not ruining my experience of the CD. It is just such a wonderfully sad and solemn recording that the more mainstream elements are pretty forgivable. This guys voice is just right for his music. He can really portray the depressive without sounding weepy or unmanly. He is just calm and reflective. There is vast potential in this work for larger exposure. Rennick needS a promoter and a label that can get the word out. With that, Im sure that thousands of teens would ostracize themselves to the confines of their unlit bedrooms to the sounds of this CD." NEO-ZINE

"Rennick’s music is the definition of underground DIY. Composed by Rennick (one guy), performed, recorded, cut, distributed, etc. by him. Check Rennick out on myspace for a taste of his tunes on this CD and a new song “Sex”. At first, the songwriting, music and vocals all come off as so earnest it was hard to tell if he was going for Gothic or Broadway. Once To the Skies settles in, it is very gothic/industrial lite with various in depth melodic songscapes. His voice is gorgeous – reminds me a bit of Dave Gahan. Rennick will do well catering to his audience, personally I’d like it if he found a partner in crime to reign in his vision once in a while." -J - EDITOR - BiteMe
"Rennick loves drama, yet he loves it EXQUISITELY. This is for men who wore eyeliner and read dark poetry and the women who fruitlessly loved them." Roctober - issue ..43
"You are beautiful, you really are beautiful" Sally Struthers
"Most of the tracks explore a soft sound with strummed acoustic guitar chords melting into an atmospheric fog of endearing electronics. Keyboards generate sweeps of romantic timbre that infuse the music with a glistening allure. Delicate harmonics contribute a mystical edge to the melodies. The percussion adopts a languid mien, punctuating the mix with impacts of pensive quality. Celestial harmonics provide a haunting backdrop for a bevy of sweeping electronics. At times, growling guitar lurks in the mix like a hungry beast, delivering a carnivorous undercurrent to the tunes.
Rennick’s vocals are dreamy with an eerie touch, caressing the ears with the charm of a seductive siren. His lyrics deal with love and life, searching for optimism in a dark world.
The compositions are tender and delightful, feathery and appealing. Even the dreamy tunes possess a vibrant power that seethes with contagious influence. The music’s heavenly intentions produces a sinuous temperament that is mesmerizing as well as uplifting." - Sonic Curiosity
