Born in 1997 (originally as a small record store) 2Funky declared it would become the ultimate urban company!

We trade regularly nationally and globally to companies in Europe, the U.S., and Japan, & along the way have forged some strong networks within the industry with fellow promoters, labels, DJs and artists to obtain a reputation as a crucial player in this scene.

We aim to lift the profile of urban music throughout the Midlands and passionately support the live music events, especially those in our home town of Leicester.

Aiding the promotion of unsigned urban talent is something we feel strongly about- our former label Café De Soul ensured the successful worldwide distribution of eighteen different albums produced by its nine signed artists.

In 2006 the self-named 2Funky record label was launched, signing Canadian soul artist Ray Robinson and releasing an exclusive RnB compilation, the “UK FIX” by 1Xtra’s G-Child, which featured an entire line-up of UK acts, both underground and well-known- the first album of its kind, the album was also accompanied by a two month long, nationwide promo tour.

We are rated as one of Europe’s top urban stores yet we aim to enhance the urban music profile by doing more than promoting and supplying the best sounds. At the start of 2007 we set up 2Funky Arts Limited, our non-profits arts organisation to help further our quest with a more community-based project approach. Over the last six years the 2Funky educational workshops have been a regular service of ours, we provide MC, breakdancing, streetdancing, DJing, graffiti, and music production courses, on either a one-to-one or group basis, for those who want to explore the interactive dimension of music and the arts in general. Liasing closely with schools and colleges, and with more specialised organisations like Youth Offending Teams, at local and national levels, we have found that workshops such as ours are highly effective in aiding the positive character development of young people of varying social and personal backgrounds. From taking part in something they care about, enjoy, and respect our experienced practicioners can guide students in an environment they are most comfortable in.

Our professional teams of tutors have many years of teaching experience under their belts: we tailor our courses to suit the needs of the individuals so if you like the sound of the classes we offer, or if you think there are additional courses we could be teaching don't sit back- call us & get learning!!!

What did you think about the performance?
Absolutely awesome!- Brilliant! I hope I can do it again. It was so cool.
