STRIVE 2 SUPRISE
I started off working with ukflow.. the ukshowcase show in which I did A&R for the show.. scouting talent to come perform live on the show.. booking the artists and in general keeping the show and artists organised. The show was a showcase streamed live on internet TV, a great oppertunity for unsigned musicians to come perform their talents on a global stage. Artists such as N dubz, Big narstie, solo, infamous and L dot man,the uk oracle Edski, triggs vega, kingpin, EC, DNA, badfx RDL pathfinder entertainment, maine man, Messiahbolical, Young kof, lianne nicole rock, grimey limeys, tabernacle, so many names to mention!!!. I then had another show on ukflow due to a break from the showcase requested by the manager for a site update. I decided to do something on my own, Playing UK hip hop and grime etc and also having Live PA's, artists included Nutty P, Stonecold recordings, Big narstie, Sniper E, Nutty NRG, Doctor, Cross bone T and many more.My keen interest was to promote unsigned musicians within the uk. Ukflow was a great experience for me, my first feel of working within the music industry. My first stepping stone! I have also done a live set alongside big narstie on a radio station in dartford! Which was Great fun.. :) I then left ukflow in december 2006 due to personal reasons. Time to move on and better myself in my career and try new ventures...
I have become more and more interested in the business sides of the music industry, specifically on the music marketing and promotions with a hint of PR! I activly show a keen interest on these subjects by home tutoring myself by means of books.. internet research.. networking with people within this trade, working with various record labels and music companies promoting products and events, marketing, event management, networking, radio pluging etc, and also gain professional knowlegde on courses with apply to these subjects. I also enjoy hosting my own radio shows, delivering music industry news, tips and fresh uk tracks!!! alongside worldwide music... If i like it... i play it!
Since moving on..
I sucessfully completed a music management course with Eastside Records (ECAB).. subjects included; music marketing, press and PR, digital market, record label management and publishing.
Released a UK complilation named " Strive2suprise" vol 1 which had an outstanding repsonse from the public, I released it online for Free download. Within the first month more than 4000 downloads had taken place!! The cd cover was designed by Dirtsman and the finished product was mixed by styla kid.. :) The promotions was done by yours truly :)
Currently doing a course with UK Unsigned - Music business and Live sound engineering. I am currently achieving distinction levels of work and effort :) I now work for uk unsigned, in 2008 they have offered me a job within the company working on the marketing and PR team as well as a apprenteship :o)
STRIVE 2 SUPRISE
Strive 2 SupriseStrive 2 Suprise is a compelling venture representing every professional body within the UK music industry, from artists, producers and DJ’s, which has full intentions of establishing a new musical movement. Carmela Antoniou initially set up the company back in December 2006 with the introduction of the Strive 2 Surprise Mix Tape Vol 1 and after receiving more 4,000 free download hits for its first project, it’s given S2S a new initiative of taking home-grown crafts to another level of success.
Strive2Suprise will be conducting mix tapes which will be distributed across schools, colleges and youth clubs and online. The under 21's project will encourage students under the age of 21 who have an artistic craft to feature on the mix tapes alongside established artists. All tracks will be non-explicit and S2S will make a point of refusing to promote any verbal abuse or discrimination in any nature in aim to clear the status of stereotyped music genres.
In the future, once the under 21's mixtape has been well established this project will also consist of music workshops that will encourage ambitious individuals in perfecting their craft before even pursuing a professional career, and will also give them the opportunity to learn from their influences and industry professionals. Students will also have the chance of performing alongside established artists at our under 21 events, and even take part in the event management. It’s important to offer experience within all music aspects without being time consuming whilst studying, and this movement will give the talent a head start into perfecting and showcasing their craft.
