The (hi)story so far........
Disturbing Foresights was one of the first Dutch punkbands around that managed to blend hardcore and metal music with a punk attitude. It all started back in 1989 when Disturbing Foresights released their first and only demo tape "Struggle To Speak". The band then consisted of Cor (also in The Incredible Softies and Hang To Drip Dry) on drums, Chiel (also in T.I.S.) on guitars, Martin (also in Confusion) on bass and Demis Fifi on vocals . The band only one or two local shows when Martin decided to call it's quits and he was replaced by Koen (ex-Lobotomy). Disturbing Foresights managed to play some shows outside their area like the Kalashnikov in Terneuzen (with Sjolmord) and Eucalypta in Winterswijk (with Omadeath) when Demis started to loose interest in the band.
After he left Disturbing Foresights, he was solemnly replaced by two lead singers called Iwan and Ron, which was quite a unique combination in those days. With that line-up, Disturbing Foresights toured their asses of in Holland, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Denmark among others and also made their first vinyl appearance on the "Tegenwind" compilation album together with some bands from the Noord-Holland area (Vietzpadde, Unaccepted and Tribez Of Idiotz). This was all made possible by W.R.F. (West Fries Radiofront), who also put the band on a split 7" with Antic Hay entitled "Couch Potatoes" and another compilation vinyl album "Welcome To Our Scene". On their 1991 X-Mass European tour with Berlin/Hamburgs finest Apoplexy, Disturbing Foresights presented their "1992" concept EP which 500 copies were sold out at the end of the tour.
The same year, the line-up slightly changed: Chiel was asked to leave the band to be replaced by Bas (ex-Just Another Band / J.A.B.) and Ron gained other interests. He was not replaced, but Cor and Koen were chosen to do the backing vocals from that day on. Disturbing Foresights went in the Excess Studio with Pieter Kloos to record their debut CD "De-Grunged" but unfortunately their record label GAP-Records fucked things up severely, so the CD was never released. Disturbing Foresights once more toured Europe with their friends from Apoplexy on the 'X-Mass Splatter Tour'.
Another guitarist was found when Bas decided to quit. Arjan (ex-Brutal Obscenity) brought in some good ideas and the band's music became groovier and heavier and the lyrical content also changed a bit. Disturbing Foresights embarked on their final European tour with Brutal Obscenity and just before the release of their final vinyl EP "Come On Baby", the band was disbanded for good. Disturbing Foresights' final appearance on CD was on the "Bits Of Noise 2" compilation with "De Haag Bruis". Bit of a sad story isn't it?
Hell no! As far as we are concerned we had a great time, we've seen so many towns we had never been before, we met all those crazy people, we had our booze, we made some great music and played with great bands like M.D.C., Osdorp Posse, Brotherhood Foundation, Brutal Obscenity, Subterranean Kids, Celestial Season, Orphanage, Apoplexy, Seein' Red, Iron Fist, Alloy, Laberinto, N.R.A. and Youth Brigade.
We sincerely want to thank all those people who supported us back in the Nineties, of course they are too numerous to mention here, but once and for all we want to thank Arnie (driver), Jan (driver), Paulus de Boskabouter from Eindhoven (driver), Erwin Eierwind from De Vinger in The Hague (driver), Co (auto verhuur bedrijf), Tjalko (manager and no. 1 fan), John "Pitbull" Koppelman who gets a mokkapunt at the Bosberg (soundman), Paul van Schip (soundman and producer for the "Come On Baby" EP), the guys (and girl) from Apoplexy and Brutal Obscenity, all other bands we shared the stages with, the guys at W.R.F. (Jacques and Wil), Gerard (DDR), DJ Mart (groupie), Pieter Kloos (producer "De-Grunged), Nick (producer "Tegenwind"), Bas (from Bombastic Studio Amersfoort, whom produced the "1992" EP), Jochem Noordhoek and René Vroombout (worst roadies ever) and Robert Bregten for the human beatbox on our "De-Grunged" CD, Rens from the Brabo area, Robert Lammerding (logo's and drawings), (Mar)Griet, "Lange" Jan, De Invalshoek (Leiden), Marcello who replaced me during D.F.'s second Spanish tour, Erik the bongo guy from Tribez Of Idiotz and of course everybody at Mevrouw Latenstaan (Zoetermeer, Holland), De Blauwe Aanslag (The Hague, Holland), ACU (Utrecht) promotors, radio stations, magazines and everbody who was there for us when we needed you. You know who you are but if you're not listed here, fill in your name at the blanks........
