After its establishment in 2000 by Guido de Jongh (guitar) and Frank Schilperoort (drums) the band played numerous crushing gigs (inter)nationally. 2003 saw the release of their first full length album “Acts of Rageâ€. Devious was signed by Spitzenburg Records and therewith established itself as one of The Netherlands most promising acts.
After the release of “Acts of Rage†the band shared stages with the likes of Cannibal Corpse, Cryptopsy, Suffocation, Vader, Darkane, Crowbar, Aborted, The Dillinger Escape Plan, God Dethroned, Malevolent Creation en Dying Fetus.
In 2006 Devious successfully toured Europe with Brazilian based band Krisiun. This tour, amongst other shorter tours, introduced the band to countries like Germany, Great Britain, Belgium, Poland, Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic and Slovenia.
Their 2nd full length “Domainâ€, introducing vocalist Coen Tabak, was released on February 1st 2007 by Deity Down Records. Besides 12 grooving death metal tracks, the album features a professionally shot video of the song “Room 302†(directed by Robin van Belzen). The album received critical acclaim internationally by press and metal audiences alike.
With the release of the album "Domain", Devious proved itself to be a first class act in the extreme metal genre. On this album, Devious combines modern death metal with the band's original thrash roots in a unique way, keeping the emphasis on groove and variation.
July 2008 saw the return of original vocalist Arnold oude Middendorp, who made his comeback at the Zwarte Cross festival (NL), where Devious was lined up alongside Merauder, Exodus, Cynic, Moonspell and Obituary. Devious was also selected to play the finals of the “support Slayer†contest out of hundreds of Dutch bands by leading national radio station 3FM and Mojo concerts.
Devious started the recordings for their 3rd full length “Vision†in February 2009, capturing eight pulverizing brand new songs. Once more the album will be released by Deity Down Records and expectations run high. Like “Domainâ€, the album “Vision†will be produced by founding member and main songwriter Guido de Jongh. The album will be mixed by Jochem Jacobs (Textures) at the Split Second Sound studios and will be in stores August 2009. This release will be followed by several club tours and festivals.
