Jannae Jordan’s talents surpass the sole title of being a Singer. Born and raised in Queens NY, Jannae has been writing, hearing melodies and singing for as long as she can remember. For her the stage is home, her mic and pen are her best friends and the rest of the world is just there for inspiration. As child Jannae’s talents were hard to deny. As to not have them go to waste her parents enrolled her in the Children’s Performing Arts program at Double Image Theater, where she studied dance and theater. As a teenager Jannae studied classical voice and performed off Broadway, competed in statewide talent competitions and instructed an introduction to drama class for inner city kids in Harlem. By the time Jannae graduated from High School she had sung in some of New York’s most respected cabaret venues (Sweet Waters, The Ballroom, Don’t Tell Mama’s…), and was sure of one thing and one thing only, that standing at the microphone was the singular most comfortable place in the world for her.
Jannae went on to attend The Fashion Institute of Technology and obtain a degree in Advertising & Marketing. Her theory was that if she was going to seriously pursue a career in entertainment she needed to know how every facet of it worked from the image and fashion to public relations, radio and journalism, all of which she tried first hand on and off campus to make sure she understood how everything worked. Although content in her 7 th Avenue world as a published freelance writer and stylist, due to a twist of fate, she looked up one day and found herself sitting behind a desk with a title and the pressures of a Corporate gig at the World Trade Center as an Information Technology Project Manager. Music had become non-existent in her life. Around the same time she was introduced to the Underground dance music scene otherwise known as House. It was meeting DJ/Producer, Boyd Jarvis, that proved to be the turning point, as she puts it “Boyd gave me a voice on the scene, and he shared a lot of wisdom and advice, including putting the notion into my head that one day I could probably produce my own recordsâ€. Although their project remains unreleased, it was that collaboration that began her career as a Recording Artist. After the tragedy of 9-11, Jannae opted to pick up the pieces and go back to what she loved, her music and words. Since 2002, Jannae has recorded several records (see Discography) all of which she wrote and arranged the vocals for. She sites the influence and mentoring in recent years of people such as DJ/Producers David Camacho and Freddy Turner, as the reason why she is doing what she does now the way she does it, with no hold back.
Jannae is currently the voice of the global Net Radio phenomenon PrePartyRadio.com. She is also working on developing her own projects under the moniker of JX3 Music, her newly established Publishing/ Production Co. “I’m honored every time I’m invited to participate in a project. However, I don’t want to get stuck in a box, only participating in other people’s visions. I want and need to devise and execute my own. I’ve got some wicked ideas of my own for myself in dance music and beyond. Only I know what I can really do because only I know how I really can and want to get down…†While she toils away in her studio fleshing out her own ideas, she is beyond over the moon about collaborating with some amazing talents based both in the UK (Stereo Mutants,Deepologists, Afterlife, Dephunk...) and US (Louie "Lou" Gorbea) on a number of projects for 2007 release.
To date Jannae's voice has been called everything from strong and soul shattering to sexy and sultry. Words such as classic and moving have described her lyrics. No matter the style Jannae is fearless on the microphone. Whether she writes about love, good times, Gods grace and many blessings or everyday ups and downs, her songs effectively encompass the varied elements of life and human behavior that make good songs much like living so interesting.
