ASHE' and.. MAY THE MUSIC BE WITH YOU!

About Me

As I listen, play and dance to music, it brings happiness to my soul. At the core, this music contains positive messages which I'm proud to share with you and people around the world. This is the story of how I got involved with music...I was born and raised on the Upper West Side of New York City. My parents were raised in El Barrio, a section of Manhattan. Latin music was what we listened to most. My parents were Salsa dancers in the late 1960's, so music was always a part of my life. One of my uncles is a Salsa promoter and I remember him promoting dances at Latin Nightclubs in the city. I was exposed to legendary Latin entertainers there like Tito Puente, Tito Rodriquez, Celia Cruz, Eddie and Charlie Palmeri, to name a few. This piqued my interest for music and dance. In the late 70's, I experienced my first discotheques, The Star Ship on 42nd Street, and Ones on Hudson Street. Disco music was "it" and the Hustle was the dance everybody was doing. Then a seminal event happened in my life. In 1979, a good friend of mine named Philip Acuna, invited me to a private party at 99 Prince and Mercer Street in Soho. The party was called, The Loft and David Mancuso was the host. This party introduced so many types of music to me and I experienced a vibe that I shall never forget. The party took place in Mancuso's home. The atmosphere was very inviting. Colorful balloons hung from the ceiling and a wonderful Christmas tree was there throughout the years. Home cooking and beverages were always served to his guests. The dancers were into the music like I had never witnessed anywhere else in my life. There was no specific type of dancing like the Hustle or Salsa or anything else that I had been exposed to. The dancers danced from their hearts and souls. This was a true house party. The Loft experience opened up a whole new world of music to me.That same year, I was also taken to the legendary Paradise Garage. At the Garage, I was exposed to the sounds of Larry Levan and David DePino. The Garage featured live performers like Madonna, The Weather Girls (aka Two Tons of Fun), Grace Jones and other wonderful artists. During these years, I attended many other clubs that also influenced me musically, such as Studio 54, Melons, and The Galaxy. My experience growing up around music gave me the desire to support and promote DJs and entertainers. I have created two successful promotional companies. In 1993 I founded Men At Work Productions. We focused on promoting dancers and DJs for weddings, private parties, and club promotions. I also founded Kat...Sent Me, Talent, Travel and Special Events, that specializes in organizing group functions and party cruises. I was hired by the NYC Circle Line for the 2001 Seaport Music Cruises which gave me the opportunity to work with DJs and musical entertainers such as Louie "Lou" Gorbea, Joey Llanos, David DePino, David Mancuso. Frankie Feliciano, and Little Louie Vega. After working with Lou Gorbea during the Circle Line Music Series, we decided to join forces. The year 2002 to present, had opened up many new journeys for me. The Ashe' company was created. As Lou's manager and promotional director, my reasonability's are to schedule and book guest appearances at parties, radio broadcasting shows and music web sites. I organize and host Ashe' parties and special events such as our summer music boat rides our weekend resort party called, "City, Country, City". I create and design our promotional materials for distribution. Due to our parties, I was interviewed and featured in an European magazine called, "Vibrations". I've been booked several times to Italy to dance and play my tambourine along side Lou by Fly-Away productions. The experience of traveling to a different "house music community" is an opportunity I will always be honored to accept. Being a dancer, percussionist, manager and promotional director for my company means I have to wear many hats.Ashe' has openly expanded in the music industry due to working with supportive producers like, John "Jellybean" Benitez (Jellybean Recordings), Louie Vega (Masters At Work/Vega Records), Kevin Hedge (West End Records/Blaze) and many other talented DJs and artists.Lou Gorbea's talent of playing and producing music has inspired me to continue working hard and accomplishing my goals. My mission for Ashe' NYC is to continue spreading the love of music, dance, unity with positive energy around the world. Keeping the music alive and introducing it to others is what it's all about for me. I humbly invite you to come along on our musical journey to experience one of God's Greatest Gifts...
