I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)..Welcome to the Art by Davey Factory, created and conceived in the year 2000, by Davey, an eclectic fusion dancer, photographer, and toy designer, known for his individual style and movement. Davey arrived in the New York City area in the early 1980s, raised in the Deep South and migrated north after graduating from college. Born into a family of dancers and athletes, he was inspired by the ethnic contemporary dance performed by his Mother at an early age - Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater School was his first school training in movement. His passion for fashion also began in the early 1980's, after being approached by fashion stylist Patricia Field of (Sex and The City / The Devil Wears Prada) at the Paradise Garage on one bright early Sunday morning. From 1984 - 2002, he worked on many projects with the House of FIELD, including his own line of POP Artwear after being featured in People Magazine in 1984 - clients included Ten City, Sinead O'Connor, Heavy-D and the Boyz, The Fly Girls of "In Living Color", Paul Simon in "Mother Goose Rock-n-Rhyme", and fashion magazines (Harper's and Madamoiselle). In the year 2000, Art by Davey (formally known as Mashala) decided to venture off and create his own movement involving fashion, movement, and media - hosting several photo exhibits at New York nightclub SPA, and is also featured in the film "How Do I Look" by director Wolfgang Busch and continues to provide imagery for its on-going film distribution and projects. His photo work has also been published in the New York Times, books: "Sex in N.Y. City: An Illustrated History, and The September 11 Photo Project, and several images of Patricia Field in various fashion magazines. He was also cast on several projects for theatrical Go-Go for the Jackie Factory at CROBAR for Chi-Chi Valenti and DJ Johnny Dynell, and with a vast array of other stage performances including Off-Broadway Duke Theater, Adelphi University, the Lucille Lortel Theater, the Riverside Church Theater, LaMaMa, P.S.122, the Brooklyn Academy of Music and the Museum of Natural History with various dance companies. His last major performance cast as the lead role in "Cabaret Macabre" as Master of Ceremonies, a recreation of the Joel Grey esthetic, under the direction of Dalia Carella to a sold out house for four nights with speech and playing several characters inspired by cabaret movments from the 1930's in Berlin. He has been pursuing acting as an extra on various television series and movies (Ugly Betty, Sex and the City - the movie, Law&Order, the Manchurian Candidate, Lipstick Jungle(NBC Pilot) and Bollywood film (Jo Bole So Nihal)). Art by Davey is available for film, television and print, theater performances, and fashion shows. The Art by Davey Factory has created its own art and fashion blog entitled "Red Velvet Roses Magazine", which is the outlet for the Art by Davey Factory photography covering New York events through an eclectic eye. The Art by Davey Factory has also produced its first CELEBRIDUCK (Celebrity Rubber Duck) in homage to the transgender nightclub and fashion ICON, Miss Amanda Lepore, which has been featured in Fashion Week Daily, Paper Magazine, Time Out New York, and various fashion and downtown New York blogs.
