Candice Alley stormed onto the Australian music scene with her debut single “Falling.†As one of the hits of 2003, “Falling†claimed a Top 5 spot in the charts and Candice became the Number 1 Australian Artist to feature on the National Airplay, charting for 32 weeks. Not bad for a song that took her 20 minutes to write! On the back of the success of “Falling†and her debut album “Colorblind†Candice supported Enrique Iglesias’ Australian Tour. She also opened at the 2003 ARIAs on the same night she was nominated for Best New Artist Single.
Candice is now in the process of consolidating upon the success of her debut album – this time as an independent artist. Having spent the past 20 months writing new material, Candice has recently finished recording her second album with producer Michael Szumowski. The first single from this album “Before You Go†received radio play and spent 11 weeks in the Australian Singles Chart, having peaked at number 16. Her eagerly anticipated follow up single “I Belong†is due for release on 21st July 2007. “I Belong†marks an up-tempo change of pace for Candice, with a chugging guitar line which compliments her immediately identifying vocals. When asked what “I Belong†is about Candice replies, “I Belong†is about moving on and being optimistic, about letting go of old things. It’s a positive song.â€
Candice’s re-emergence on the Australian music scene is in full swing. In tandem with her exciting releases, she has recently performed live at the David Jones’ fashion show, the AFL 2007 season launch and in support of Chris Isaak’s ‘The Best Of Tour.’
Playing acoustically or with her band, Candice is a natural live performer who connects with her audience on every occasion. Growing up immersed in music, Candice was able to teach herself to play the piano and guitar by ear. Revisiting her childhood collection provides a glimpse at some of the influences on Candice’s style. “There was always a record on the stereo at home - Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Otis Redding, The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, Bob Marley, Elton, Madonna and so much more.†With mature, emotional lyrics, catchy melodies and a unique voice Candice Alley is an instantly recognisable talent destined for success.
