The sweet swinging music of ‘The Hot Club of Belleville’ is inspired by the great masters of manouche; Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli of Le Hot Club de France, the wild passion and humour of the Eastern European Gypsies - with an occasional nod toward contemporary themes of our time.
Belleville offer a delicious line-up, featuring fiddle, saw, maccaferri style guitars, melodica and tuba. Members of the band include well known musicians from world roots band ‘Headmix’, kicking Klezmer band ‘The Matzos’, and Latin folk quintet ‘Los Piratas’.
From gentle ballads and cartoon craziness to spellbinding and ridiculously fast Gypsy tunes, this group can put on a show that can be tailored to almost any event, and for anyone from 0.6 to 106. ‘The Hot Club of Belleville’ can create an atmosphere conjuring up the steamy clubs of the 1920’s and 30’s, sending dancers into an intoxicating swing that can go on, and on and on……….
