About Me

Budapest is a rather exciting city that can charm you or drive you insane... or both in just minutes. It is old, it is modern, it's romantic, it's hip, bustling and soothing, colorful and dark. The city is safe but not for the faint of heart. It is what it is, buckle up, enjoy the ride you are up for something unexpected and fun for sure. A little bit about the history to my fellow thirty-second-attention-spanners: the area has been settled for thousands of years, the first recorded settlements date back to the Celts and then the Romans. Slavs as well as other long-gone peoples have also occupied it, then some 1,100 years ago the Hungarians showed up and have been hanging out here ever since. We survived various occupations (liberations??) ie. the Mongols (1200s) the Ottoman Turks (1500-1600s) the Austrians (1600-1800s) then the Nazis, the Soviets... whatever didn't kill us made us stronger of course, everyone came and went, some built some destroyed but they all contributed to what Budapest is today. You will find 500 year old and still functioning Turkish bath houses, baroque churches, medieval synagogues, you will hear classical music filtering through as you walk around the cobblestone streets. Take a river cruise at night, go hit a bar or a concert, make new friends along the way - Budapest will captivate you and you'll come back for more! ------ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budapest

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

anyone who is interested in Budapest

Heroes:

President Jimmy Carter was cool, he gave back the stolen crown and royal jewels of Hungary that somehow had ended up in America after WW2. It's because Christians aren't supposed to steal, you see...
