The only clue the Sisters gave me on my 16th birthday was a letter I supposed was left by my birth mother. It said "Ivanna, I love you. This is the best I can do for you and for myself. I never chose this kind of life. I only wanted freedom and in return I became a prisoner to your drunk Father. I am running back to my family in Russia. DO NOT TRY TO FIND ME OR YOUR BIRTH FATHER. One day you will understand."That night I ran away... from the Sisters... from the convent... from my life as I knew it.I could try to hunt down my father but the letter told me not to, and for some reason I decided to listen to those words.I have a jaded past, but I survived it! The first couple of years on the streets were the worst. When I turned 18 the world changed. I no longer had to turn tricks, or sell drugs. I could be a dancer! And get paid much more then the street could ever offer. After bouncing from this club to that club for about 5 years I realized they were not much different than the streets. Then I found an ad for Dancer Auditions... THEE VAUDEVILLAINS. And here I am today, the lovely, Ivanna Martini.
