Happy Year of the Pig! 'Farmer John' Johnson's Barbeque Huckster, where the pigs carried 'donor card

About Me

Finally, I have grown old enough for the roles I'm good at doing. I have trouble saying "no." I have the disturbing ability to see more sides to any argument than just my own. My religion is "be nice to others, be considerate and try to do as little harm to the world as possible." I don't think you need much more than that, no matter how you spell it with an "ism" at the end. I produce and perform puppet shows, often for non-profit organizations, the most recent being "Smoggy and Claire Clear The Air," a secondhand smoke awareness program for grades K-3, produced for the American Lung Association of Virginia. After eleven years of performances, the ALAV gave me the Douglas Southall Freeman Award, their highest honor. I have been a performer, producer, designer and writer for the Dr. Madblood TV show, local to SE Virginia, since 1980. The TV show is currently on hiatus as it prepares to move its main focus to webcasting from www.madblood.net. I enjoy the company of my friends and family. I also enjoy kids and animals, although I have none of my own. I have been married for 33 years to the lovely Debra. I worship many goddesses, real and mythical and am fortunate to have married one of them while still paying homage to the rest whenever possible. I like working and, when I have the time, I write and keep in touch with friends from all eras of my past. They are my extended family and I love them all dearly. Peace.Your results:

My Interests

You Are 26% Evil
A bit of evil lurks in your heart, but you hide it well.
In some ways, you are the most dangerous kind of evil. How Evil Are You?

I'd like to meet:

The person who came up with that knuckle-banging arrangement of "Heart and Soul" that people who can barely play piano do all the time. Better yet, I'd like to go back in time, meet the parents of that person and interrupt that act of conception. And maybe a space alien... preferably one that's not too oozy-drooly... or overly radio-active... or fond of the taste of human flesh.... Just a benevolent hyper-intelligent overlord that will whup us upside our collective head. We could use some head whupping. But seriously, folks, I'd really like to meet my friends and family more often.

Music:

Eclectic. Everything from Mahler to Those Darn Accordions. Especially fond of women vocalists and vocal ensembles. Kitka, Four Bitchin' Babes, The Roches, Bangles, Fuzzbox. Janis Ian, Emmylou Harris, Angelique Kidjo, Tori Amos and Debi Smith's voices can bring me to tears. Then so can music of Samuel Barber and Erik Satie. So can Gove Scrivenor for that matter, sometimes. Frank Zappa, Dolly Parton, Marshall Crenshaw, Laurie Anderson and Keiko Matsui. Love Monster Movie Music and even some musicals. Spinal Tap and the Nashville Soundtrack. Old 97, Sting, Nat King Cole, Lena Horne, Sara Vaughn and Olivia Neutron Bomb. Classical to Jazz, Rock to Folk. Gregorian Chants and Tibetan Monks. They're all on my playlist. Rap: not so much....

Movies:

Also eclectic. Film Noir to Rodger Rabbit. Godzilla to Gorgo to Harryhausen and Lucas. Plan 9 to Farenheit 451. Lots of cheesy monsters from the 50s to high-tech screen epics. Cinema Paradiso with subtitles made me weep, as did Mulan and even Spiderman swinging through the city made an ancient dream come to life. Screwball comedies from the 30s and 40s and Fred and Ginger hoofing it in tandem make me happy with snappy dialogue and clever repartee. Too diverse to enumerate my faves. Just not fond of slasher horror. There's enough of that in the real world to want to watch it for entertainment.

Television:

..

Heroes:

Mom and Dad, my wife Debra, my friends Sarah Knorr, Rich and Doris Sivel, Alfred, Emily and Doris Bernheim, John Moore, Alexandra Kedrock, Bill and Lynn Ruehlmann, Mary Ella Douglas, Fran Ward, Jacques Cousteau, Rachel Carson, Jane Goodall, Whit Bissell, Dabbs Greer, William Schallert, Jan Merlin, Ray Harryhausen, Liv Ullman, Janis Ian, The Roches, Mel Blanc, Paul Frees, Those Darn Accordions, Jim Henson, Soupy Sales, Ernie Kovacs, just to name a few.... ..
