About Me

Born in Beirut 1978, his passion for rhythm was revealed in his early years. By the age of 9 he was playing the Darbouka (an Arabic percussion instrument) and was acquainted with the essence of the traditional Arabic music. After receiving private lessons he studied how to read and write music. During the years 1990 - 1993 he performed with several Arabic singers as a side man. Later on he was attracted to drums as an instrument with a wider percussive range and tracking its traces he crossed the border of oriental music towards the western musical world.1996 he started taking private drum lessons, two years later, when he met Steve Philips, he perceived a new concept of drumming which pushed him towards the musical thinking on the drum set.2003, after Steve left Lebanon to his homeland, New Jersey, Rony performed with Arthur Satyan and Jack Gregg, which enhanced his druming.Later on Rony was joined by his brother Elie who proved himself to be a very talented Jazz bass player. And in search of Jazz he went to study Musicology where he finished his academic studies at 2002 and still pursuing his studies at the Holy Spirit University where he gained a wide musical background ranging from Oriental, passing through Classical music.Rony performed along with several local artists such as: Charbel Rouhana, Rony Barrak, Claude Chalhoub and Ziad Rahbany and Arthur Satyan. Also he performed with:Jerome Sabbagh,Cris McNulty, Kamal Musallam, Tino Derado,Richie Vitale, Ingram Washington, Cristo Fontecilla.Currently Rony is based in Dubai (UAE) and he is a member of Kamal Musallam Group/trio performing along with Elie Afif (Bass), and is also a member of Abstrakt Collision You should create your own MySpace Layouts like me by using nUCLEArcENTURy .COM's MySpace Profile Editor !
