Michel was born to a Palestinian family from Nazareth. At the age of nine, he began his musical education in Nazareth by learning the guitar, under the instruction of George Bawardi.At age 17, he began his professional career with several local bands. He then went on to work with nationally acclaimed musicians.During the years 1990-93 Michel studied for and received a diploma in electronic engineering at the Nazareth Elite College.In 1995 Michel moved to London, England, where he studied and completed a one-year diploma at the Musicians' Institute – G.I.T.He began a three-year degree program in music composition at The London College of Music and Media in 1996 under the instruction and assistance of Adam Gorb. On 11 June 1999 Michel won the Wilfred Joseph Prize for the academic year 1998-99.During the years 1999-2000 Michel furthered himself with the assistance of Adam Gorb and Nigel Clark to complete his masters degree in film and TV scoring at The London College of Music and Media.While he was in London he worked with a number of internationally acclaimed musicians including Abboud Abdel'All, Bashir Abdel'All, Ahmad Al-Mukhtar and others.In 2000 he returned to Nazareth and established his own business Dasam Studio (Dasam is a word in Arabic for “rich foodâ€).In 2001 he appeared as arranger, composer and guitarist on Samir Jubran - Sou' Fahm CD. Then he started to focus on jazz through collaboration with his friends and musicians.On 10 July 2002, Michel was awarded the Best Title in Music from the Professional Committee of Arts.In 2004 he recorded his debut album Yathrib, which was released in January 2006 by Ozella Music. In Yathrib he fused jazz, rock, Arabic Middle Eastern with many other things. With his band, he played in different parts of the country, toured in Germany and played the Leipzig Jazz Festival (2006), played in Geneva, and the Jerusalem Festival (2007) where he met and jammed with Nigel Kennedy.He appeared as a lead guitarist on Alex Carpani – Waterline CD (CypherArts, 2007). He composed and worked on different film music. He recorded his second album Writings On The Wall with the piano player Franck Dhersin. He worked and toured with the accordion player Manfred Leuchter.Michel won the A. M. Qattan Foundation’s Performing Arts Grant for the year 2007.
