Band Members: Doc Jazz is a Palestinian living in the Netherlands, and is a surgeon by profession. In the Netherlands, he is also known under his real name as a writer, speaker and debater on TV and radio for the Palestinian cause. Besides this, he is a songwriter, musician and singer.
All of Doc Jazz's songs were originally written, played, sung and recorded by himself in his home studio (demo quality) Recently, Doc Jazz has released his new CD 'Front Door Key', on which 12 of these songs were professionally produced by Forrest Thomas, featuring an impressive array of professional musicians..
Next to guitar, piano, bass and drums, Doc Jazz also plays the Ud (arabic lute), the shibbabeh (Palestinian flute) and the darbekkeh (hand drum).
On this page, 4 of his songs are featured (that's the number allowed by MySpace); if you visit the website, you will discover the great variety of styles his music has.
You will also find his Arabic and Dutch songs there... the first 12 songs from Front Door Key are mixed with the home studio productions so do visit the site!
You are free to download songs, and you can also find the lyrics there.
Influences: With regards to the style of music, it varies too much in style to be caught in one genre. Most of his songs have a jazzy feel, but some of his songs are rap, some are rock, some are piano ballads; even reggae and blues are included in the repertoire. Though most of the songs have English lyrics, some songs are in Dutch, and some in Arabic.
