Influences:We all grew up with different music styles, so what we bring to DEBU is influenced by that. Some, but more from what we learn, growing as a band and collaborating with other artists.
Flamenco guitar is definetly an influence.
(we have songs in Spanish, Mustafa (see Friends), our lead singer speaks spanish, as do some other members)
Dangdut is a great traditional Indonesian dance music.
Every night, somewhere in Jakarta, thousands of fans are celebrating this rich genre, having the time of their lives!
We ran a T.V. show with several top artitsts from our adopted country, playing our songs, Dangdut style and their songs, DEBU style. A good time was had by all!!!
That's only some of the current influences.
We have an album out in Turkey, (in Turkish), as also have several band members familiar with the language and culture.
We hope to tour there before long..
Middle eastern music is also a big influence on us. Maybe that's why our rythem sction is so strong.
JAVA JAZZ FEST recently borrowed two of our drummers.
(hey, can we have our drummers back now, please?)
