About Me
Nadwa is a versatile performing artist - a combination of an actress, singer, model and short film director. She is originally from Lebanon and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts from the University of Fine Arts in Beirut in 2003. Today, Nadwa lives and works in the United States, making her home just outside of Boston, Massachusetts. Fluent in English and Arabic, Nadwa has studied and practiced acting, singing, body expression, contemporary dancing, mime, choreography and directing. She had classical vocal training in the conservatory of Lebanon and performed as a lead vocalist in the Lebanese University Band for four years. After arriving in the US, Nadwa composed and recorded the French-Arabic song "L’amour en Banlieue" with the French artist Jaques Pardo, leader of the World Music Band "Atlas Soul". The song won the Global Rythm Magazine / Sonic Bids award in August 2006 and was featured on 120,000 cds worldwide. In 2007 the song was also recognized with the US Independent Music Award Popular Vote. Nadwa has performed both with the band and solo at various cultural festivals and Lebanese and Middle Eastern nights at venues around Boston and elsewhere, and has participated in an opera workshop with the soprano performance artist and professor Andrea Loretz and recorded a track for a USO Project in CMC Productions.In her recent trip to Lebanon and Egypt, Nadwa was interviewed live on Lebanon’s national TV and on Orbit TV, an international Arabic TV channel that covers the Middle East, South Africa and Europe. Interviews are posted on You-Tube, Google Video and Myspace. Nadwa has built her experience as a professional actress by performing live on stage, improvising in live performances of modern and post-modern acting that focused equally on the ability of body and voice performance. She has been featured in a television drama series on LBC, theatrical roles in Beirut Theater, and music videos. In the States, she was featured in an RSN lounge on RSN TV, a national television network that specializes in creating and distributing outdoor content for America’s premier resorts. She has dubbed dramatic and cartoon voiceovers in different production houses in Beirut. Nadwa also directed two short films: "Plat du Jour" and "Moment", and served as an assistant director in New TV Lebanon for two years. Through her diverse experience in the world of film, on and off camera, Nadwa became a certified actress in "The Association of Theater, Cinema, Radio And Television Actors" in Lebanon and a certified short film director in "The Association of Cinema Technicians" in Lebanon.
