Remaining under the radar while she has refined her unique style, Ryhna Thompson (“Ms. Melodieâ€) has been amassing a complete set of experiences in various facets of the music industry.
Some may know her as a member of Parkside Jones, the band in which she was a writer, singer and multi-instrumentalist for 7 years. Together with the group, she toured across Canada playing stages such as the Commodore Ballroom, the Odeon and Club Soda, shared bills with artists as varied as Maceo Parker, Spearhead and Blue Rodeo, and released records such as Mind the Gap (1999) and Dream of Being Orange (2002).
Others may recognize her as the trumpet player whose experimental approaches to melody, harmony and tone have decorated Montreal’s stages with a number of musical projects such as Ark Of Infinity and an assortment of Moondata Productions events.
Some still- who care to read the liner notes in albums- might even know that she is the manager of internationally-recognized artists such as Amon Tobin and Kid Koala as Founder of Envision Management and Production- as well as co-founder of Moondata Productions. Since 1998, with these artists and projects among others, and through these endeavours, Ryhna has been expressed her visions and her passions for forwarding originality, through developing projects from the ground-up, building long-term careers, assembling international tours, working hard and having a good time doing so.
This year, Ryhna is working on a number of musical projects which are expected to come to fruition, one by one, starting with the Sevens Project album which is expected to be released this fall.
