About Me

ENGLISH
Interceiving is all about breaking new ground in improvised noise-based music. Creating fluid, organic music that breathes. Creating music within the narrow window between controllable and uncontrollable noise. Nurturing brute electrical material and coaxing a beautiful musicality out of it.
The four-piece Montreal band has been exploring the music of noise for years. Drums and bass are the immediately recognizable elements of the sound. But the band also harnesses noise from a variety of sources—like controlled feedback—to play along with in free-improvisation. No beat-making, sequencing or sampling. Doing it all live is what sets Interceiving apart; creating energetic music with a uniquely organic feel.
Yes, it’s weird. Yes, it’s chaotic. It’s all those things found elsewhere in the genre. But it’s more than that. It’s richly textured. It’s heavy. And it’s in the groove. It has a depth that reveals that there’s nothing haphazard about this rendering of random noise.
The visceral music has found an immediate niche in the film industry. In addition to consideration in a major studio film, the music of Interceiving has been featured in many independent short and feature films including "Dead Space" (National Film Board, dir. Marielle Quesney and Jean Labourdette).
Interceiving’s live shows go beyond the conventional idea of musical improvisation: there are no keys, no time signatures, no structures, no themes. Each performance exposes the raw creativity behind the music as audiences witness music emerge from seemingly shapeless noise.
With the release of their eponymous debut LP in June 2008, Interceiving is poised to introduce noise as music to a whole new audience. Come and groove to the electrical malfunction and surrender to the high-decibel Now!
