over 80 artists from Canada, USA and the UK, kicks-off
its tri-city tour in Montreal before exhibiting in
Toronto and New York City.
Opening Reception:

Boa Bar, Montreal

You may know it as the Fu Manchu, Handlebar, Walrus,
Toothbrush, Pencil and the Horseshoe. The moustache has
numerous nicknames, for better or for worse, such as
nose neighbor, flavor saver, lip tickler, cookie duster
and, of course, the infamous youth 'stache.
The moustache can be waxed and shaped, combed and trimmed;
it can be curly, fuzzy, tobacco-stained, long, stubby, bold and pointy.
The Moustache is loathed, feared, muched loved and even
fetishized; it is exciting, mysterious and even
repulsive; it is both fashionable and grotesque. It is
even said to have magical properties.
Countless moustaches of great fame and noteriety have
achieved iconic places in our hearts and minds, too.
Take, for example, those of Charlie Chaplin, Sgt Floyd
Pepper, Salvador Dali, Albert Einstein, Cheech Marin,
Dick Dastardly, Groucho Marx, Frank Zappa and Frida
Kahlo, among others.
One thing over all is certain: nearly everyone has a
relationship to the moustache and, consequesntly, it
makes for an excellent subject for artistic consideration.
Following an overwhelming response to an international call
for submissions, La Moustache showcases the work of over
80 artists from Canada, USA and the UK whose wily
imaginations demonstrate that the moustache is much more
than mere facial hair grown on the upper lip?it?s a
wondrous object of infinitely fantastical creative potential!
Please join us as we celebrate this amazing collection of
moustache-inspired drawings! One free moustache ride
goes to the person with the best moustache disguise!!!

Most recently Parnel has exhibited a fine selection of artists. The exhibit ended Thursday August 23, 2007.

..
You have to see GUILLAUME SIMONEAU's work

Go to: http://www.7578.com/index_01.html
His work is out of this world
His exhibit was from July 24th to August 7th 2007.
Below Forde Cooper
June 26 till July 10th "Photographs from the river by Forde Cooper" Really interesting photos of alcohol bottles in the shape of Native Indians. This series comes in at a perfect time considering last week the Natives blocked the Mercier bridge in rememberence of all the Natives that were killed during the colonization of the Americas. For more info on this important topic please copy and paste http://sisis.nativeweb.org/sov/oh11500.html into your browser.
Peet Massé exhibited from June 12th till June 26. His work was brilliant. Represented by Secteur 54 Peet has his own unique style that you just can't miss. Copy and paste link http://www.secteur54.com/artistes_peet_en.html into browser to see more of his works.
MARCO D just exhibited, his works were night shots in light boxes. This was one of the best exhibits I've hosted yet! The art and video were great as were all of the awesome people that attended.
I was honored to present Allen McEachern's wild life series which was absolutely brilliant. Definitely someone to contact for impeccable photos. Go to http://www.allenmceachern.ca to see his work
Montreal videogame/video-installation artist Paul Warne presented a new series of digital prints at BOA from May 1st-15th (Vernissage May 3rd). Entitled "Vector", the collection explores the botanical history of geometrical fauna and other enigmatic phenomena rumored to haunt the three-dimensional environments of Warne's illusory installations.Go to paulwarne.com for more info.
Magali Cadieux showed from March 20th till April 3, on exhibt was an awesome series of lovely paintings full of life and color making you really feel that spring is just around the corner. Such an amazing person, I look forward to working with her in the future and watching her imagination unravel. For more information please go check out www.magalicadieux.com. Below is a piece of hers.
March 15th, Rachelle Lapoint
Look in my pictures is a piece from her series(It's the painting with the slip suspended in mid air with a dark blue back ground).
Her Artist Statement:::
Rachelle's previous focus on poppies dealt with exploratory variations in color, size and different degrees of gestural rendering. Following this she created a series of blood stained slips to be exhibited for a women against violence group. The work on this horrific series inspired her to broaden her medium to integrate the previous subject matter. These new mixed media poppy gardens disturb the viewer with their juxtaposition of lovely poppy fields and blood stained undergarments. With radiant tones in the skies and lush fields of poppies these images communicate that hope and beauty can always be found through the hardship in life.
Elisa Monreal exhibited for the first time at boa from Feb 20th till March 6th. Her work was a great start for her first solo show. For more information on her and her life work visit: http://shalak.blogspot.com.
Corlorful and Vibrant!!! Thank you Elisa...please keep in touch, I'm anxious to see your next series.
Thursday Feb.8 Bjorn exhibited his new series of intriguing melancolic characters. The creator of Avive clothing will be showing the original creations behind his serigraphies. This artist is spectacular!
Marc Knowles show cased a very interesting series of minimalist organic paintings at his vernissage January 25th. An example from his series which I like very much is below. Really nice work, lots of mixed feelings from the viewers, which usually insinuates there is much to think about.
January 11th was the vernissage of local painter Mark Dubeau an extremely talented artist all around. This multi talented guy has created a great body of paintings as a sideproject to some of his more deadly designs. Some of his other work can be seen here www.damnfx.com. Come out for a drink this Thursday Jan.11th at 6pm while you view his masterfully carved palet knife paintings. You definitely won't be dissapointed.
This Thursday ..h there will be an exhibit by Eric Bond—
—whom I think lots may enjoy. He is currently represented by Secteur54 a very well organized and established virtual gallery and face for many great Montreal artists. If you'd like more information on them go to http://www.secteur54.com. If you've been trying to come by boa and haven't had the chance this Thursday is the perfect opportunity. Anytime between 5 and 10pm is good. Jordan Dare will be in after that whipping up an in-between x-mas & NYE storm:)
Raymon Fong...(below)
Thursday December 14th 2006--Raymon Fong's work as a painter, 5:30pm+ (5301 st-Laurent). He's an emerging artist I've been working with and supporting for the past three years whom I see a bright future for. You can also visit his work at www.raymonfong.com
KOPS CREW (below)
Thursday's Vernissage November 30th there's a collective exhibit by the Kops crew. This should be great, come check out some their new stuff, t-shirts and other merchandise will be for sale. See you there!
