25 YEARS AGO IN BIRMINGHAM when Andy bought his first piece of vinyl, 'rappers delight' by The Sugar Hill Gang, Little did he know that this art form would be with him for the rest of his life.In the early eighties, heavily influenced by the craze for breakin'. Totally taken, but never being a successful dancer felt he had something to contribute to this phenomenon and was often found nursing the sound systems at impromptu breakin battles. He saved and bought records, lots of records! This was when Andy taught himself to mix, cut and scratch. In the late 80’s A regular radio 1 listener and habitual taper (sorry), He Heard John Peel play Confusion' by Armando - this was Acid House! Andy changed direction and started frequenting warehouse parties and raves and under the name of DJ Air Andy DJ’d at legendry midlands clubs such as such as Delirious, The Boiler House, Eclipse and Coast 2 Coast, alongside high roller DJ’s back in the day like Doc Scott, Daz Willot, Keith Suckling, Top Buzz, DJ SS and SL2.Changing direction slightly again through friend Jock Lee, from Bosting Records, Andy gained residency at 'The Institute' Birmingham in 92 where he honed his love of pure house music, which he still enjoys today. In 1998 Andy joined Midlands radio station Centre FM to produce and provide the mixes for the highly successful Saturday night Dance Party.Andy’s next mentionable residency was at The Refinery in Burton, playing his mix of pumping (not banging) house alongside the harder sounds of Fergie, Andy Farley and Lisa Lashes to 800 clubbers after his radio show on Saturday nights.Born out of his Joy for record collecting and not wanting to let his old 45’s get dusty, at the same time Andy created his own project, Full Fat over in his home town Tamworth.Andy got his teeth into organizing by touring his club nights around the midlands, mainly in non descript art centers and club back rooms such as the renound Void in Hanley Stoke on Trent; for Full Fat Andy shared the decks with local DJ’s who shared his passions and had similar vinyl archives. The success of this lead to Andy being asked to organize and headline at summer festivals for Staffordshire County Council.2002 Marked the Beginning of Andy’s Residency and close association with Bullit in Tamworth, playing alongside Brandon Block, Alex P, Hed Kandi, Lisa Loud, Alistair Whitehead, K-Klass, and Hed Kandi. Andy is still a resident at Bullit to this day, with his brand “@ home†which has the undertones of Full Fat but with a predominant Pure House theme. In 2003 Corona Extra Beer selected Bullit to be the Venue for the West Midlands heat of their worldwide dj tournament.
