About Me

Damo Walsh was born on the 1st of April 1986 in Chelmsford Essex, UK At the tender age of 10 he discovered a huge passion that would change his life forever, This Passion Was Music. 2 Years later after a built up record and CD collection he decide the only way to progress with this passion was to becoming a DJ so he could share this passion with the rest of the world. This passion vastly became an obsession and with him doing everything he could to get his hands on the best music around before any others and this proved costly so he had to get a job that could run along side his school day so he could earn the money to full fill this Passion. Working 6 Nights a week at a local pub at such a young age was a lot to take on but it earned him the money to go out and buy the things he needed. First up was a pair of Technics 1210’s and a basic mixer so he could then start mixing and learning to become a DJ. It didn’t take long for him to pick up and he began inviting friends over for them to hear him. This was in a caravan in his Nan’s back garden! His Grandad built the sound system and wired it all together. Inspired by all sorts of great music with Dance music being a major influence he then began playing to crowds all over Essex as often as he could. From the age of 13 he has been doing Disco’s all over Essex and Surrounding Counties under the name “Direct Sounds”. His reputation as a DJ soon began to grow and he began to get a lot of work from previous gigs as well as a Sunday Night Residency at the Wig and Merkin in Chelmsford. Since then he has played at almost every bar and Function room in Essex as well as a one of set at the Club Zeus under 18’s party. Summer 2005 Damo tried his luck in the Modiva corona World DJ Championships. The First heat was at his local Club Dukes Decadence. He went through 2 rounds there and then made it into the Regional finals, which were also the UK Semi finals. But sadly didn’t make it through. This gave him a huge drive to want to become the best he could be. So he began practising a lot more than he ever did before, buying a pair of CDJ 1000’s that seemed the best thing at the time as he could then increase his music collection for a much lower cost. He spent alot of time working on projects and figuring out things he could never do with vinyl such as live sampling, queuing and looping. This opened a new dimension to his live performance and he became very creative whilst Djing using every function he could get his hands on. In 2006 Damo landed his first BIG gig at “The Egg” Kings cross London for “Housework’s”. With a number of very positive comments this gig gave him a huge buzz and inspired him to really start putting himself out there as a DJ. His diary soon filled with gigs spanning all over the country, which involved a lot of travelling. This raised his profile and was soon contacted by a Bar owner from a New Bar in Mallorca “Vibe Bar”, He flew out to play for the opening 2 weeks in spring with the intensions of going back there over that summer. But unfortunately “Vibe Bar” closed down. Lucky he had been spotted playing by a local DJ “Miguel Angel”, Miguel then passed Damo onto Phil and Dan, Owner and Manager of the Largest Nightclub that side of Mallorca, Damo was soon offered the 2006 summer residency. This was a great opportunity for Damo to showcase his talent, Playing to over 1,000 people every Night of the week for over 2 months. Meeting and playing alongside some of the greatest DJ’s and producers in the world including Brandon Block, DJ Hardwell, DJ Jean , Des Mitchell, DJ Jose, Carlos Gallardo, Oscar Romero, Sote De Lino and many more!. But in the months leading up to this residency Damo showed an interest in the production side of music, He spent months learning and after a few average tracks Damo teamed up with up and coming producer “Funkie Gomez” and they remixed “Chris Lake’s Changes” This version was played all over the world with support from A-List DJ’s. Over that Summer Damo also teamed up with another up and Coming DJ and producer from Holland “DJ Hardwell” to make a remix of “The Sound of Violence”. After returning back to the UK Damo then got his first big UK Residency with Miss Money Penny’s, but this only lasted 3 months as the Club hosting the events closed for refurbishment. 2007 Damo had his next big London Gig, which was again with “Housework’s”, but this time played main time in the main room. In February 2007 he started his own promotion (Style promo) in Chelmsford at a New Bar called “Ancient Lights” on Friday nights; this started off really well and attracted a lot of local media as he chose to put on a lot of young talented up and coming DJ’s as well as playing himself. This created waves throughout Essex and this Attracted Essex’s leading House Music brand “TooDamnGlam” to sign Damo up as a resident, where he played monthly for a while at Zinc Nightclub, Southend & a One off for Smartie Partie @ turnmills. Damo was contacted by Dusted, Judge Jules’s management Dusted decided to start a new residency at Zinc Night club and give Damo the opportunity to play there for them also. But unfortunately for Dusted it didn’t go to plan and after 2 months they stopped their night there. Next it was Defected; Damo was booked for a one off set for “Defected in the House” Which Took place at Zinc Nightclub on a Bank holiday Sunday. Building up on his profile he was then offered a set at one of Chelmsford’s best house music parties “Electric Disco @ The Bar”.Fundament and Judgment Sundays contacted Damo and booked him for their one off party at Heaven in London. Damo played alongside Chris Cee, Alan Banks and Lizzie Curious. With other DJ’s such as Judge Jules, Sander Van Doorn, Hoxton Whores, Marco V, Marc Vedo and many more playing in the other rooms. After a lot of Success that year in the UK Damo then took off to Mallorca, after playing at “The Sound Republic” again briefly Damo decided he wanted to move forward, so he chose to leave Mallorca for the Island next door “IBIZA!” Damo was resident at Savannah Beach Club & Es Vive for Too Damn glam that whole summer (2007). Whilst away he made a number of new tracks and when he returned to the UK he hit the studio to finish them and also hooked up with “Lizzie Curious”, one of the most talented persons currently on this planet. 2008 Damo began playing at a new Residency called Shake It, that was held every Friday @ Station Lounge Sudbury. Supported by World Famous Kiss Fm with a whole host of Guest DJ’s including Ric Groves (Kiss FM, Vinyl Decadence) & Sote De Lino (Pacha Mallorca). This year his gig schedule was a little less promoted but still managed to play for some of the best parties and Clubs around including Club Twenty (Chelmsford), Club SIA (Wimbledon), The Scene (Halsted), Sugar Hut (Brentwood), Eclipse (Brentwood), Exchange (London). Also playing alongside Legends and leaders of the Scene; Bodyrox, The Ratpack, Norman Jay, Brandon Block, MC’s Sparks & Kie, H’Two’O, Pied Piper, Ed Real, Steve Smart, Danny Dove, Judge Jules + many more. 2009 As well as having a solid gig schedule in 2008 and some good productions supported some of the industry’s leading artists Damo decided now was the time to step things up. Getting off to a great start securing a New Friday residency for Chelmsford’s Newest Night “Virtual Insanity” @ Saracens Bar, Chelmsford, a New Saturday Night Residency for Baysic Sessions @ Pembrooke, Kent and a New Thursday night residency for Tasty @ Elements, Witham. As well as still playing at some of the best nights around including Style @ Route Nightclub, Colchester (2nd Sat of Each Month) & Style @ The Scene Nightclub, Halsted (Final Friday of Each Month) These gigs have already seen Damo play alongside Brandon Block & Lizzie Curious. Production wise, over the past 9 months Damo has worked in the Studio with a number of talented producers such as Danny Dove, Lizzie Curious, Danny Cartel & Mikeal Fender working on solo and team projects which he plans to release spring time. Over each weekend Damo plays between 3 to 6 gigs, some promoted some not. But his performances are better than ever, full of excitement, energy and technical ability. This is essentially why he is receiving so many bookings. His Management are in talks with plenty more high profile gigs and brands. These include Smartie Partie, Too Damn Glam, Be Somebody with gig offers from the USA and most of Europe, there’s much much more that we cannot wait to tell you about!
