Tomorrow's Warriors

The New Face Of Jazz

About Me

Tomorrow's Warriors is a non-profit-making organisation established in 1991 by original Jazz Warriors double bassist, Gary Crosby to nurture and develop talented young jazz musicians who wish to pursue a professional career in jazz. Tomorrow's Warriors represents the new face of jazz. The organisation has its roots in the Jazz Warriors, the seminal Big Band founded in 1985 as a platform for black "streetwise" jazz musicians which helped to incubate names such as Courtney Pine, Gary Crosby, Steve Williamson, Orphy Robinson, Cleveland Watkiss, and many others.
Tomorrow's Warriors essentially picks up where the Jazz Warriors left off in terms of its work with young musicians. Additionally, Tomorrow's Warriors:
- provides professional music "apprenticeships" and performance/educational workshops for young jazz musicians; organises and co-ordinates concerts and other public performances by young jazz musicians nationally and internationally;
- is an artist resource centre for other arts organisations and music industry professionals wishing to collaborate and/or work with jazz musicians;
- a local, national and international information/co-ordination/advisory resource centre for promoters, musicians, arts organisations, production companies, print/broadcast media, venues and others (for example, enterprise training centres).
Since inception, Tomorrow's Warriors has achieved an unparalleled level of success in helping many young musicians to launch successful professional careers in jazz and the organisation is now widely regarded as one of the key organisations in the UK for the professional development of young jazz musicians.
To date, former Tomorrow's Warriors core band members have won a clutch of prestigious awards, plus several nominations for MOBO, Urban and other music awards.
