FBD Project/Neil Trix

About Me

I first got into music in the mid 80's listening to anything urban. Being hooked on music i progressed throught the 80's into electro and hip hop finally finding early house pioneers like Adonis,Chip E and Farley Jackmaster Funk and anything Detroit. This music was the foundation of my identity, when introduced to Djing i knew what was missing in my life. During the late 80's and early 90's i was Djing at some of the best Warehouse parties ever held in the UK. alongside the likes of Grooverider, fabio,Sasha,Carl cox to name but a few i carved out my craft. Then along with Luke and Neville from the legendary "Amnesia House" organisation i helped run the record shop"Bang-in Tunes". Based in Coventry the shop was the meeting place for the local DJ fraternity, stocking the freshest underground vinyl the shop exploded and i decided it was time to start producing my own ideas and increase my profile. "FBD project "was born and alongside "Gavin Watton " (respect gavin) we produced and released our first single "lets do it" in 1992. This was pure breaks and basslines being caned by the London DJ's, we knew we were onto something. The second release was "terminate", sampling a chaotic Kemistry break alongside deep rolling stabs and sine wave bass lines it was all rolling out nicely. Then came "The Core" cat no BT003, This was my entry into the darker side of Early Drum and bass. This track was caned by all and is still rated as one of the best early 90's Dark tunes with a B side "shes breaking up" it was all systems go for the FBD project. i dont even have a copy anymore!!! shit one. Some of my other releases on Bang in tunes included "she's so" a rolling out breaks track with lush pads and melodic hook lines this was the "FBD project". A release on the Reinforced series "Enforcers 7" with a track called "Gestures without Motion" created more interest from the big names in Drum and bass. With remixes for Omni trio and releases on Moving Shadow,Partizan, Funk 21 as "system4" and Hard leaders i would like to think i had a Strong foundation in the early part of the Drum and Bass scene.I have worked with and produced alongside various artists including Total Science,Skanna, Future bound, Justice, Deep Blue, Onmi trio, Future engineers,Organic synthetic etc etc.The FBD project was all about a feelin, doing what we loved best making tunes, djing and enjoying the scene. It was my life and i am proud to have been part of the drum and bass scene in the 90's. The scene was fresh and exciting with the UK being innovators and originators of the world wide drum and bass scene. We were into it because it was inside our souls, you all know what i mean. Drum and bass is still as fresh today as it was 17 years ago. Thank you to all the people i shared some amazing times with in the "eclipse" and all of the clubs i played at. oh yes....Now i am a bit older (36) still in the Music Industry but working for "MACKIE" an equipment manufacturer so i still get to meet some cool people and play with some of the best equipment in the world.......shit i need to get in the studio again though..I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
