REVIEW FROM JULY 08 EDITION OF KNOWLEDGE MAGAZINE - Thanks to Brother for the scan:-) My early record collection consisted of hardcore house and hip hop from the likes of Young MC, NWA and early Production House, Moving Shadow and Rising High Records. When hardcore morphed into jungle I was hooked and spent a fortune on vinyl spanning labels such as Ibiza, Third Party, Reinforced, Labello Blanco, Rugged vinyl, Metalheadz and Good Looking Records.Gradually, the music grew very dark and I began to get disillusioned with the music around that time. I began to get into hard techno and frequented places like 'The Drum Club' at Heaven, Megadog and Megatripolis. I was also producing some tracks on a piece of software called Med on my old Amiga 500 with 1MB memory!!After listening to a tape from a Wednesday night LTJ Bukem radio show on Kiss FM, I was totally moved and inspired by the new drum and bass sounds of PFM, especially 'Cruising detroit'. That one radio show rekindled my interest in the scene and I saw a new direction forming. I went down to Speed at Mars one Thursday night with my cousin Rob, and we were both absolutely blown away! We attended there regularly, also heading over to the Blue Note when we could for the Metalheadz night on a Sunday. When I wasn't in London, I was at college in Northampton and set up my own drum and bass, night called 'Deep' with D. Sully from Cork which took off but came a bit too early for the town unfortunately. We modelled it on 'Speed' playing deep drum and bass but most of the people from the area were more into 'Jump up'. We did have some wicked sessions in there though!Returning from a year spent travelling the world in 2002 I set up my own night at a mate's bar, The Charterhouse in Farringdon, London where I played drum and bass and old school hip hop. Now, based in Kent, I have turned my hand to producing and am using Ableton Live on my laptop to come up with some music. It's been great chatting to people about music on myspace and sharing my music. I've hadsome of my tracks played on web radio by ATP from Melbourne Australia and on podcasts by the mighty DJ Marmix from the UK and DJ Stinden from the US. Also, the legendary DJ Dezert Rat has dropped a couple of my efforts on his excellent Liquid Monday's show on the biggest drum and bass station, Kool 94.6FM.Also DJ Overfiend from New York has played my tracks regularly on his show, Electronic Warfare on Bassdrive Radio. Also, I've had radio play from DJ Methodus from Florida and DJ Stunna from Chicago both on their Bassdrive Radio shows. Also, DJ LJhigh has shown his support recently with plays on his show on Kunninmindz radio and Psyko Konceptor on French Radio station DropZone Frequency. On 1st June, two of my tracks, 'Many Years From Now' and 'Ripples' were released on the brand new drum and bass label, Binary Soul Records exclusively through the ithink music website to begin with and now on Beatport. These two tracks are my first releases of 2008 and I am very proud to have them on this exciting new soulful label run by D-func. I've got two further released scheduled for this year on Binary Soul. The first is my track 'Charade' which is coming out on the Soul Science EP in September and then 'Rodeo' which is due out later this year. Stay tuned!Jrumhand ;-)Discography :Many Years From Now / Ripples Binary Soul Records (BSR001) 2008Forthcoming :The Charade - Soul Science EP (BSREP001) 2008 The Rodeo - Binary Soul Records 2008Available for DJ/Live performance bookings - contact [email protected] release on Binary Soul - Thanks to Psyko Konceptor for this video :-)
