Mambateknik

A return to the spirit of the dancefloor

About Me

YOU CAN BUY OUR RECORDS HERE AT JUNO RECORDS AND HERE AT REDEYE RECORDS
Welcome! We are Iain Millar and Joy De - collectively Mambateknik. We are two dudes who met at Uni in Sheffield in 1999 and discovered that we both loved drum and bass music and dancing like idiots at legendary club night NY Sushi. Since 2002, we have been London-based and have been continually learning the craft of producing and engineering danceable tunes. Last year, we released our first single Skankin'/Soul Rising, the debut for Mambateknik Recordings. Since then we have been busy coming up with bigger and better tunes for our next releases. The end product: MTEK002 - Beyond Disco(Your Woman)/Stormrider and MTEK003 - Gimme That Guinea/Fire Burning are back from the factory and will be out soon. Check all four tracks out above. Work is well underway for more tunes to be released later in the 2007.Although we are happy to be categorised as Drum and Bass - there is generally much more to our music than just drum and bass. We aim to make tunes that have a strong musical element, as well as rockin riddims and BIG bass. We try to stay away from formulas, we just let the ideas evolve and see what comes out in the end. We draw influence from the whole spectrum of music from funk to punk, from prog rock to progressive house. We try to create music that fuses vinyl samples, electronic elements and live elements together in a way that sounds warm, soulful and infectious. We are full of ideas and are always pushing ourselves to higher standards in our production and engineering. We try to enjoy it too. We want Mambateknik to be about quality music, but we dont want fun to be a dirty word in what we do. Hope you enjoy the tunes - let us know what you think. We love feedback :)
