I grew up in Pueblo Co. where I was introduced to science fiction movies, comic books, and listening to my Uncle Augustin at the dinner table recap a horror movie he had seen the night before like; Dawn of the Dead and The Exorcist. I have been studying Martial Arts for twenty-three years, under three disciplines (Hapkido, Kenpo, and Jujitsu). I would highly recommend the Dark Eclipse by Christopher Salas not only to Science Fiction fans but also to all readers. It’s an epic tale of good combating evil told in a tidy package. Reading this book is a form of exercise. Evocative combat scenes, (both hand to hand and between squadrons in space) are very vividly and engagingly told elevating the heart rate. There’s more to this story of than physical battles, the author brings the reader into the conflicts of spirit and emotion that come when one population sets out to annihilate another. The telling is another winning attribute of this saga, the voice of the author is almost lyrically reminiscent of ancient Egyptian texts conjuring epics told long ago.
