Stripped

Stripped is an acoustic based gig night that takes place every first and third Thursday of the month at the Wellington Inn, Russell Street, Hull (just around the corner from Lamp). Each Stripped night features 3, sometimes 4, bands or artists all playing original material. Stripped is different from other gig nights as each band performs two sets of 4 songs each at different points throughout the evening. This has proved a popular format for both performers and audiences alike as it prevents the annoying habit of people leaving as soon as they've seen their mates. It also means that latecomers still get to see every act perform.Stripped has developed a reputation for being one of Hull's most unique gigs. The Wellington Inn itself is a small, cult venue with a frightening array of drinks from all over the world. Despite the size of the venue, Stripped nights are invariably busy with a great atmosphere that has made it a regular gig for some of Hull's best songwriters. Stripped is constantly forging links with other gigs across the UK and is now regularly booking artists from all over the country.Stripped is a free to enter gig and as the organisers don't recieve any money they cannot pay any bands. The venue does provide a number of free drinks vouchers that are shared out amongst all who play - this usually keeps everyone very happy. There are usually a few people who want to buy CDs so it's always worth bands bringing a few along as blatant self plugging is readily encouraged.
